"Holy Grail" as written by Terius Nash, Jerome Harmon, Shawn Carter, Dave Grohl, Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic, Timothy Mosley, Ernest Wilson and Justin Timberlake....
You'd take the clothes off my back, and I'd let you
You'd steal the food right out my mouth
And I'd watch you eat it, I still don't know why
Why I love you so much, oh
You curse my name
In spite, to put me to shame
Air all my laundry in the streets
Dirty or clean
Give it up for fame
But I still don't know why (Don't know why)
Why I love it so much, yeah

And baby
It's amazing I'm in this maze with you
I just can't crack your code
One day you screaming you love me loud
The next day you're so cold
One day you here, one day you there
One day you care, you're so unfair
Sipping from the cup 'till it runneth over, Holy Grail

Uh, Blue told me to remind you niggas
Uh, fuck that shit y’all talkin' about, I'm the nigga
Uh, caught up in all these lights and cameras
Uh, but look what that shit did to Hammer
Uh, goddammit I like it
The bright lights is enticing
But look what it did to Tyson
All that money in one night
30 mill for one fight
But soon as all the money blows
All the pigeons take flight
Fuck the fame, keep cheatin' on me
What I do, I took her back, fool me twice that's my bad
I can't even blame her for that
'Nough to make me wanna murder, Momma please just get my bail
I know nobody to blame
Kurt Cobain, I did it to myself uh

And we all just entertainers
And we're stupid, and contagious
Know we all just entertainers

And baby
It's amazing I'm in this maze with you
I just can't crack your code
One day you screaming you love me loud
The next day you're so cold
One day you here, one day you there
One day you care, you're so unfair
Sipping from the cup 'till it runneth over, Holy Grail

Now I got tattoos on my body
Psycho bitches in my lobby
I got haters in the paper, photo shoots with paparazzi
Can't even take my daughter for a walk
See them by the corner store
I feel like I'm cornered off
Enough is enough, I'm calling this off
Who the fuck I'm kidding though?
I'm getting high, sittin' low
Sliding by in that big body
Curtains all in my window
This fame hurt but this chain works
I think back you asked the same person
If this is all you had to deal with
Nigga deal with it, this shit ain't work, this light work
Camera snapping, my eyes hurt
Niggas dying back where I was birthed
Fuck your iris and the IRS
Get the hell up off of your high horse
You got the shit that niggas die for
Dry yours, why you mad take the good with the bad
Don't throw that baby out with that bath water you're still alive
Still that nigga nigga, you survived
You still getting bigger nigga living the life
Vanilla wafers in a villa, illest nigga alive
Michael Jackson thriller

And baby
It's amazing I'm in this maze with you
I just can't crack the code
One day you screaming you love me loud
The next day you're so cold
One day you here, one day you there
One day you care, you're so unfair
Sipping from your cup 'till it runneth over, Holy Grail

You get the air of my lungs, whenever you need it
And you take, the blade right out my heart
Just so you can watch me bleeding, I still don’t know why (Don't know why)
Why I love you so much
Yeah
And you play this game, in spite, to drive me insane
I got it tattooed on my sleeve forever in ink, with guess who’s name
But I still don't know why
Why I love you so much
Yeah

And baby
It's amazing I'm in this maze with you
I just can't crack your code
One day you screaming you love me loud
The next day you're so cold
One day you here, one day you there
One day you care, you're so unfair
Sipping from your cup 'till it runneth over, Holy Grail

Don't know why

My InterpretationI love this song! Its so fucking hot, Justin's soft and emotional voice blends it nicely with Jay-Z's blunt and honest hard-core voice. It's just awesome.

I think this song is about fame and how the love and hate relationship they Justin T and Jay have with it. Both of them being in the industry for a while and then quitting for a while and then coming back. It's like being famous and the making music is something they love and are into but at the same time, they hate the bad stuff that come with it. What's great about this song is that it also fits well with love and relationship. Maybe a guy in love with a girl that is playing games. This also goes well with religion, like Christianity. Like how god is always with you and you depend on him, but then life also gets in the way...

My InterpretationYou have to fully listen to the song.... Its about love and fame. J.T's part is singing about loving someone who is playing games with him with his feelings, and how he was sold out and forgotten about when it came to fame. He loved the person before fame and now that fame is here, you don't know me. He was sold out on his mistakes and secrets in life due to fame and the person perfecting their famous image, and although he is being put through all this he still loves this person.

Jay-z is singing about being famous and how he is living the famous life when the fame runs out there won't be no one there but the people who truly loved him. When the Holy Grail (meaning the fame and rich life) is all said and done and as run its course, they only people who truly loved him were the ones who were there before the fame.

Got to really pay attention to the words....

Song MeaningBoth Jay and Justin are singing about fame and their love/hate relationship to it.

To understand the song you can't just take the words literally, you need to really think about the meaning. They are basically humanizing fame.

General CommentThe JT part is about no matter what horrible things the girl could do to him, he will still love her so much. She takes his breath away whenever she's around him.

The Jay Z part is like any other song with Celebs complaining abt the paparazzi.

General CommentIn addition to what others are saying, it's Jay contemplating leaving the game and his problems with it. Then he looks at his upbringing and how he got to where he is now and he says, "If this is the worst I have to deal with then that's okay, I'm still alive."

It's Jay battling with his fame but realizing that if cameras are the worst he has to deal with to have a safe and comfortable life with his wife and kid than it's worth it.

My InterpretationCompletely agree that this is a song about fame, celebrity, and the media. The frustrations, the challenges, and the rewards. The love story between celebrity and media. I completely disagree that JT's part has anything to do with a woman or a relationship. JT is singing to the media/paparazzi and referring to the passionate love affair (if you will) between celebrity and media. I hate you, I need you, you're trying to ruin me, I love you.

Part of the reason celebrities do what they do is the fame, the attention. And the media feeds that desire, that need. But they can just as quickly try to ruin you. And even when they do, you love it. Because it's still that attention you want.

Plus, it goes both ways. They feed off of each other. "It's amazing I'm in this maze with you"...
