You are gone to the highest bidder
Now you're with a man that is god's worst sinner
Well no, don't care about me
I am just the man who meant to set you free
I tried to
Make you a part of me
I even told you what would happen theoretically
There is this something that I need to know
Why am I the only one that lost it all

But every day and every time I turn around
Searching for a place
That I have left behind
And all I wanna believe
That you could bleed so

Burn with me
I'm just an empty shell
Another's friend
Transformed to someone else
Take your seat
I cast a spell
So you'll be less like you
And more like someone else

One's life is another's dream
What someone says a myth is one's normality
How can I
Believe there's another sun
Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm the chosen one

As night has taken what is left of day
And everything is like it's made of clay
I feel like I am the only one
Feeding my need to be reckoned as someone

And every day and every time I turn around
Searching for a sign so I can make a sound
But all I want is to flee, I wanna see you

Burn with me
I'm just an empty shell
Another's friend
Transformed to someone else
Take your seat
I cast a spell
So you'll be less like you
And more like someone else

Burn with me
I'm just an empty shell
Another's friend
Transformed to someone else
Take your seat
I cast a spell
So you'll be less like you
And more like someone else

Burn with me
I'm just an empty shell
Another's friend
Transformed to someone else
Take your seat
I cast a spell
So you'll be less like you
And more like someone else

    My Interpretation

Before I give my interpretation, I want to give a brief summary of the video: According to the music video, it seems like Jake and Elize had gotten into an argument and Jake feels regretful. While the music video does not say why, the video starts off by foreshadowing Elize involved in a car wreck. Halfway through the video, it shows Jake and Elize argue (as said earlier) and Jake leaves the car. In a spark of anger, Elize drives off and Jake walks the road, presumably home. Down the road, Jake sees several fire engines and Jake's guilt kicks in. As you might of guessed, Elize was involved in a car wreck (just her) with the car upside down. Jake then goes insane seeing her dead. From my point of view, it seems like Jake had wished he never left the car and was involved in the wreck with Elize, hence the lines: "Burn with me I'm just an empty shell". Since Elize is dead, it is clear this will stay in Jake's conscience forever, and he will most likely pin the blame on himself. Moral of the song/video: Be careful on how you treat others. You never know if their last day alive will be today or tomorrow.

    My Interpretation

Currently going through a divorce after 26 years of marriage; this song sums up all the rage, betrayal, regret, and sadness I feel. I have wanted her to "burn with me" for this betrayal. I realize I have to let her go as an act of love and getting on with my own life. Ultimately, death (marriage or actual) is final and all you have left is memories.

    My Interpretation

The two protagonists of this song are quite obviously in love, but sharing the torment of being in a relationship with someone else despite what fate might have had in store for them had they met sooner.

The following lines are sung in duet:

"Burn with me I'm just an empty shell Another's friend"

The line "Ones life is another's dream" applies to both of them.

Due to the circumstances, both of the protagonists are circling the subject, and waiting for the other one to make a move; leading to an endless spiral of nothing:

"And every day and every time I turn around Searching for a sign so I can make a sound"

OK, forgive the PK (preacher’s kid) in me, but I see religious overtones:

You are gone to the highest bidder Matthew 26:15 and asked, "What are you willing to give me if I deliver him over to you?" So they counted out for him thirty pieces of silver

Now you're with a man that is god’s worst sinner John 1:1 And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us" wrote St. John (1:14). So, the Second Person of the Holy Trinity assumed human nature. Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the Divine Word of whom John wrote, "In the beginning was the Word; the Word was with God, and the Word was God

Well no, don't care about me I was just the man who meant to set you free 2 Corinthians 5:15 And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.

I tried to Make you a part of me I even told you what would happen theoretically There is this something that I need to know Why am I the only one that lost it all Philippians 3:8 What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ

But every day and every time I turn around Searching for a place That I have left behind And all I wanna believe That you could bleed so Luke 22:44 NIV And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.

Burn with me I'm just an empty shell Another's friend Transformed to someone else 2 Corinthians 3:18; Romans 8:29 we are being transformed into [Christ’s] likeness God “predestined [all believers] to be conformed to the likeness of his Son. Take your seat I cast a spell So you'll be less like you And more like someone else 2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ.

Ones life is another's dream What someone says a myth is one's normality How can I Believe there's another sun Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm the chosen one

    2 COR 4:4

Christ is the Image of God

As night has taken what is left of day And everything is like it's made of clay I feel like I am the only one Feeding my need to be reckoned as someone

    Romans 3:23

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

And every day and every time I turn around Searching for a sign so I can make a sound But all I want is to flee I wanna see you

    Ezekiel 44

Then He brought me back to the outer gate of the sanctuary which faces toward the east, but it was shut. 2 And the Lord said to me, “This gate shall be shut; it shall not be opened, and no man shall enter by it, because the Lord God of Israel has entered by it; therefore it shall be shut. 3 As for the prince, because he is the prince, he may sit in it to eat bread before the Lord; he shall enter by way of the vestibule of the gateway, and go out the same way.” So you'll be less like you And more like someone else

    Philippians 3:21

who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

Oh wow. I finally got the lyrics, and they're powerful.

First of all, the video really isn't related to the story the lyrics tell. The video shows a painful story about a couple getting into a fight right before she's killed in a car accident - telling a story of regret.

The lyrics indicate these are two lovers who have ended up with other people. They're still soulmates, but each one thinks the other has decided to leave them behind.

This is the lyric that really got me:

Take your seat I cast a spell So you'll be less like you And more like someone else

For the longest time, from the video I thought this was saying they were together but not in love, and so each of them was wishing the other person would change. But realizing that they're not together yet long to be, it seems the lyrics are saying each of them wishes the other would change so they would love them less and not have to watch their true love live with another.

    My Opinion

I think this song is about the following.

A guy is in love with a girl. however the girl keeps going after the wrong type of man,

“Now you're with a man that is gods worst sinner Well no, don't care about me I was just the man who meant to set you free”

only for her to turn to him for sex/comfort when she and her latest fling brake up.

‘’I'm just an empty shell Another's friend Transformed to someone else Take your seat I cast a spell So you'll be less like you And more like someone else’’

he has clearly had enough about being used and is biter towards her. she however sees this man as nothing more as a means to deal with her life She seams aware she is hurting him, but dosn’t seam to care about him. she only wants to feel like someone else.

‘’As night has taken what is left of day And everything is like it's made of clay I feel like I am the only one Feeding my need to be reckoned as someone’’

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
