"Punk (La Vie Antérieure)" as written by and Bradford Cox....
For a month I was punk
I remembered all my drunk
Younger days in a daze
I would spend my empty days

For a week I was weak
I was humbled on my knees
Pray to God: "Make it stop
Help me find some relief"

For a year I was queer
I had conquered all my fears
Not alone anymore
But I found it such a bore

For a month I was punk
For a month I had no luck
For a drunk I was young
For a kid right to the

For a month I was punk
I remembered all my junk
Younger days in a daze
I would spend my useless days

For a week I was weak
I was down on my knees
Pray to God: "Make it stop
Help me find some relief"

For a month I was punk
For a month I was

My InterpretationI think the "for a year I was queer" line refers to how Bradford Cox has claimed to be asexual, before stating that he is actually gay. He said that he was afraid of rejection, and after a while with that fear you just convince yourself that you're actually asexual. I think that ties into the "not alone anymore" line. Otherwise, not too sure of the meaning.

Great way to finish off an eclectic album.

General CommentSexual identity, but also just the effort to be "cool." Everyone can point to times in their lives when they were faking it, and maybe a few where they were at the pinnacle of hipness, but it's a relief to not be self-conscious. "Being punk" is maybe the weirdest form of being cool since it's an effort not to make an effort, a very conformist model for non-conformity.

It's also like dnddmdb points out a huge relief to come out of the closet!
So this awesome mumbly song is about finding yourself and looking back on a period where you either had it, or were totally faking it.
