I brought the roses in hopes that you knew
Just what I go through to hold you on this afternoon
So when I pull the shades down and let the candles have their way
Well, could it cover the smell from the back side of hell
Where they laid you yesterday?

Oh, my pretty baby
Oh, she isn't ready
She is not ready... to leave...
(take one more breath)

To tell me you will stay just as beautiful
When I see you again at the bend down the other side
Your lack of eyes gives away the way the light shone down on us that day
It was the day that we met, only fools could forget
I haven't yet
I'll never forget
I'll never forget you were

Oh, my pretty baby
Woah, you were not ready
Before, my pretty baby
You are not ready
Til you lay your hand on me (in sweet, sleep)

Til Oh, ready for nothing?
Yeah Oh, well isn’t it something?
Yet isn’t it something?
To lay your head on me
Just lay your hand to speak, sleep

I’m getting older and I know it right
But what I know is you won’t
But we’ll stay here at night…Yeah…

General CommentThis song comes across as a man walking in on his dead lover and being unable to come to terms with her death, and he keeps her with him a result. Reminds me of A Little Piece of Heaven to some extent.
