"17 Hours" as written by and Emma Louise Lobb....
Hands on her shoulders, hair down her back
Lying to her lover at home
Making no money
Far away
17 hours of flight
Words hurt when you wait to long
Words hurt when she's in your arms

But in my anger
I'm a fire
And in his arms she was
In his arms she was
And keep me open
On the table
You left me broken
I'm broke
In his arms like her
And I am honest
Like my mother
You left me naked I burnt
In his arms like her

Where he sleeps and where she fell

My InterpretationI think this song is about a person with some kind of serious disease that only has 17 hours left.

My InterpretationI just wrote this huge thing and it deleted it so I'm only gunna write a short one. "Words hurt when you wait too long. Words hurt when she's in your arms" means she waited till the very end to tell loved ones about her disease and now when she's around they don't know what to say.

General Comment(PART2) "keep me open on the table you left me broken I'm broken" shows the last surgery had failed to fix/cute her and she's still sick. "Where he sleeps is where she fell" I think shows that she died while her and her husband were sleeping in bed.

General Comment17 Hours is about a great love relationship that is dissolving. Emma has quoted that this song is very personal to her. She has said it’s a “17-hour flight to get to Austin, Texas. It was the first of my many trips overseas.” I believe Austin is where she began a recording career. She also spoke about the song “Stainache,” saying before her music career, she just moved to a new city, and feel deep in love with a very special guy. She wasn’t working, and was completely overtaken and consumed with this love. Until she found a piano, and began making music. So, in a way “Stainache” came first, then things began to fall apart and “17-hours” was written. So, to me, 17-hours is about the disillusion of this once profound relationship.
