Eyes like a car crash,
I know I shouldn't look but I can't turn away.
Body like a whiplash,
Salt my wounds but I can't heal the way I feel about you.

I watch you like a hawk.
I watch you like I'm gonna tear you limb from limb.
Will the hunger ever stop?
Can we simply starve this sin?

That little kiss you stole, it held my heart and soul.
And like a deer in the headlights I meet my fate.
Don't try to fight the storm, you'll tumble overboard.
Tides will bring me back to you.

And on my deathbed, all I'll see is you.
The life may leave my lungs,
But my heart will stay with you...

That little kiss you stole, it held my heart and soul.
And like a ghost in the silence I disappear.
Don't try to fight the storm, you'll tumble overboard.
Tides will bring me back to you.

The waves will pull us under,
Tides will bring me back to you.
The waves will pull us under,
Tides will bring me back to you.
The waves will pull us under,
Tides will bring me back to you.
Tides will bring me back to you.

That little kiss you stole, it held my heart and soul.
And like a ghost in the silence I disappear.
Don't try to fight the storm, you'll tumble overboard.
Tides will bring me back to you.

That little kiss you stole, it held my heart and soul.
And like a deer in the headlights I meet my fate.
Don't try to fight the storm, you'll tumble overboard.
Tides will bring me back to you...

    My Interpretation

I feel like this song is about being in love with someone that you don't necessarily want to be in love with. 'I watch you like I'm gonna tear you limb from limb' sounds like he isn't particularly happy while seeing her. 'Don't try to fight the storm. You'll tumble overboard. Tides will bring me back to you' seems like even when he tries to get away he can't. Most of the lyrics evoke a feeling of not being able to control his feelings but they're a bit morbid and sung as if he's weak and resentful.

This is about Hannah Sykes, Oli's wife (girlfriend at the time this song was made).

There's a girl singing in the background, and that's Hannah. I really think it's a beautiful song about their devotion. They obviously do not hate each other -- they've been together for years and married in the summer of 2015 -- but the morbid words is just their style.

"On my deathbed/all I'll see is you" Know the wedding vow, 'until death do us part?' it's like that -- they will be by each other's side, physically or mentally, upon their deaths.

"Don't try to fight the storm/you'll tumble overboard/tides will bring me back to you" Hannah and Oli will always, every time, end up back with each other. No matter the distance, no matter the fights they endure, they are soulmates and meant to be together. Fate, the universe, whatever, will reunite them.

Their words, not mine. Fun fact: Oli and Hannah have "soulmates" tattooed on the inside of their fingers. When their hands are intertwined and facing up, it spells out the word "soulmates"

    My Interpretation

personally I believe this song is about a guy that falls in love with a girl (its kinda obvious)

"Eyes like a car crash I know I shouldn't look but I can't turn away. Body like a whiplash, Salt my wounds but I can't heal the way I feel about you."

eyes like a car crash meaning like he just cant seem to stop looking. when you see a car crash you cant stop looking you're just so curious about it. hence I know I shouldn't look but I cant turn away. body like a whiplash alt my wounds but I cant heal the way I feel about you meaning that shes so beautiful that it hurts but he cant help himself from falling for her

"I watch you like a hawk I watch you like I'm gonna tear you limb from limb Will the hunger ever stop? Can we simply starve this sin?"

I watch you like a hawk: he "stalks" her I watch you like im gonna tear you limb from limb: meaning hes like so focused on her will the hunger ever stop: will he ever be able to stop feeling this strong about this person and get over her

I believe the rest of the song is about how she found out ad led him on and when he was on his deathbed she possibly felt guilty. However this par can be taken many ways this is just what I think:)

    My Interpretation

I interpret this as a song not about love, but about lust. It's all there in the lyrics/the way Oli sings. Think about it; 'I watch you like a hawk, I watch you like I'm gonna tear you limb from limb. Will the hunger ever stop?' - he watches this girl from afar, and he watches her with greed and obsession. 'Don't try fight the storm, you'll tumble overboard, tides will bring me back to you' - this is him expressing the feelings he has for her, he can't fight them because if he does they'll just return anyway. 'And on my deathbed, all I see is you. The life may leave my lungs, but my heart will stay with you' - he will want her until the day he dies, and even after that. There are many more lyrics that suggest that this is a song about lust, I have just picked out the most important sort of ones.

    I think it's kind of about a love/hate relationship.

You love that person, yet can't stand them at the same time.

"Don't try to fight the storm, you'll tumble overboard, tides will bring me back to you."

It's quite obvious that the person who fell in love tried to fight his growing feelings towards the girl/boy (depends who's singing) but love isn't something you can switch on/off so his actions proved to be futile, and in the end he just gives in.

    My Opinion

Although I think it's really about Oli's addiction, I also have a different interpretation of the song (due to personal experience):

This song mainly talks about love, love which seems it has ended up. Though, it doesn't matter if the relationship is broken, "Tides will bring me back to you". That sentence would sound to me, something like, "It doesn't matter if we split up, one day we'll meet again and we'll together again" (like if someone in the relationship died also). Furthermore the sentence "Don't try to fight the storm, you'll tumble overboard" means that fighting is worthless because the relationship will end up anyway (but there will be a comeback...). I love this song, it is really really emotional, so sad, sullen, deep and dark also!

This song is obviously about drug addiction, think about it.......eyes like a car crash, body like a whiplash........it's how you feel after a party, tides will bring me back to you....problems will make you take drugs again.

    My Interpretation

This song is about Oli's fight with his addiction to Ketamine.

"Don't try to fight the storm You'll tumble overboard Tides will bring me back to you"

Symbolises his struggle with the 'storm' and how he's urging his family/friends not to fight it as he'll eventually come back the way he was.

(You can see him talking about it here: youtube.com/watch)

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

No Surprises

Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
