"Thirst" as written by and Dallas Green....
When I think of fates worse than death
All I can think of is something you said
You said we were golden, bright like the sun
And now I am stranded
Knowing I’m not the one

An ocean of anger
Flowing through me
Blood stained and broken
From when I fell to sea
And just like a snake charmer
You led me astray
Living in distress
Hoping help is on the way

In the midst of a storm
Searching for shelter
I came upon
One single feather
A half-hearted wish
For something better
Gracefully cursed, I thirst

Attached to the soil
I’m guiding the wool
As I am in my blood
Yet so venerable
But after I’m gone
Once I finally leave
You will be left alone
To the wolves and the thieves

In the midst of a storm
Searching for shelter
I came upon
One single feather
A half-hearted wish
For something better
Gracefully cursed, I thirst
Gracefully cursed, I thirst
Gracefully cursed, I thirst
I thirst

Song MeaningI believe he is referring to a love that he truly believed in. A love that pulled him out of a dark place and one that he put all his trust in. She fed him lies, saying that they were more than what she really felt for him. She led him on, making him feel comfortable and happy with what they had, knowing that she had something else going on that he didn't know about. Now he is realizing that their love was a lie. He says that she was like a snake charmer, mesmerizing him with the idea of love when all along she was just playing him. Now that he knows that what she was giving him was not real, he could care less about her. He wants to leave her alone and lonely, for the wolves and the thieves.

TranslationLike most City & Colour songs you can pretty much layer whatever meaning on top of them means the most to you at the time. If the above is true, then I can relate to an extent.

In my case there wasn't another guy, but I was definitely led to believe what I had with this girl was real and if that was the case then there's no way she could have walked away like she did.

For that reason this song is one of many helping me to get over her...

General CommentWell, I've tried to edit the obvious, but it hasn't taken. More infuriating is the fact that when song is searched for on this site, it doesn't exist, but if it is "googled" it shows up right away -- at this site ??????
