"Chloroform" as written by and Thomas Croquet Christian Mazzalai....
I don't always tell the truth
They don't mind it if you're tall where I'm from
Anyone I find intrusive
You won't bother if you choose me

I don't only think of you
Eyes can tell I'm insecure; chloroform
I would rather stand if you stay
Why would I lie to you?

My love, my love, my love, my love is,
My love, my love, my love is,
My love, my love, my love, my love is,
Cruel

Buckle up, we'll chase each other
It's not a lot it's just enough to matter
Anyway you want the truth is
I will marry you on Tuesday

I don't always tell the truth
If you want it you could lose, don't bother
I don't like it if you miss me
Why would I long for you?

My love, my love, my love, my love is,
My love, my love, my love is,
My love, my love, my love, my love is,
Cruel

My love, my love, my love, my love is,
My love, my love, my love is,
My love, my love, my love, my love is,
Cruel

Would I long for you?
Is it up to you?
Is it up to you?
Ah ah ah ah

General CommentThese lyrics really are hard to gauge. I think the writer is, more than anything, expressing indifference towards whoever he is lying to. He acknowledges that he is in some sort of relationship with this person, but at the same time, he is indifferent to their feelings, and is fully aware of his lack of compassion towards this individual. If I had to guess I'd say that these lyrics were intended to be read by that individual in the hopes that they would leave the writer because he is caring just enough that he won't end things with this person himself.

General CommentI think that these lyrics are really about someone who is in a relationship with someone, but truly loves someone else. And, is lying to the person that they are in a relationship with, because they don't want to hurt them. But still wants to end it because they want to be with someone else. They are willing to stay with the person they are in a relationship with, and love the person they want to be with from afar. But don't want to do anything love -related with the person they are in a relationship with.--- Just my interpretation.

General CommentIn this genre of music, I always assume a dark undertone. First you have the title Chloroform It is a popular means of incapacitating some one in crime fiction. In reality Chloroform takes up to five minutes of steady contact to the solvent to render the victim unconscious. Many times the killer grows a strong bond with the victim. Buckle up we will chase each other, In the killers mind, everything is a game, somehow no matter how demented the scenario, the killer might feel its all going to work out. It has happened before, they call that Stockholm syndrome, when a victim gains empathy for the killer. However the song does not have to be sick, It could be quit innocent, and In a lot of ways you look at courtship, And the analogy of being subdued, bound, only to gain empathy for your attacker. There are some parallels.

General CommentThis song is about a man who is a player and he uses womenonly for sex, when he meets this girl and for awhile it's the same game as usual. Until, he actually falls for the girl and she changes his game, yet he still suffers from his old ways and finds it hard to commit.

General CommentI feel like this song is write about a man that not suit for love or at least in the position for not letting himself love anybody, yet he falls for this girl. And when he having that it make him confuse about his feeling and keep wondering, the "Why would I long for you?" was a line that he ask himself.

General CommentHe's just saying how he feels love. He's a cold man, his love is cruel. It seems once he been hurted from love, and he don't want it to happen again.

General CommentIn regards to the Chloroform interpretation, I think Mars is having a reaction to "eyes" discovering that he is "insecure" by poisoning the person with Chloroform, to make them forget what they've seen. Mars clearly wants to highlight on a bad guy kind of persona who doesn't care and is unmoving. He poisons whoever can see that it's perhaps an act, and he is actually in conflict with his self.

General CommentThese lyrics are pretty rough in my opinion haha. Really good lyrics, but harsh! As others have said, I take this as directed towards a specific person who he's involved with whose affection he actually finds pretty annoying. He's being a bit of a dick and acknowledging this; "I don't always tell the truth", "I don't only think of you", "my love is cruel", "why would I long for you?" etc.
He's basically saying; I wish you didn't miss me and care about me so much, because I know that I have eyes for other people sometimes. However, it's not too big a deal for him because he isn't leaving this person. He's essentially just settling to be with a person and carry on feeling how he does, and just admit that his love is cruel in the process.
