Now when you say you wanna slow down
Does it mean you wanna slow dance?
Maybe you just want a little extra time to focus
On our romance
What do you mean I got it backwards?
You know we're gonna be forever
Why are you telling me goodbye?
Aren't you gonna stay the night?

Are we really over now?
Maybe I can change your mind
Soon as you walk out my door
I'm gonna call a hundred times

Now I walk under a pink sky
Lovers float along and pass me by
I pour my heart out to your voice mail
Let you know I caught a bus to your side of town
And now I'm standing at your doorstep
With Los Angeles behind me
If you don't answer I'll just use the key that I copied
'Cause I really need to see you

You're not here when I break in
I'm gonna go through your closet
Just so I can smell your skin
As the chemicals swim
I know I'll never love again
I swear I'll never love again

Baby, are we over now?
Maybe I can change your mind
As soon as you walk out my door
I'm gonna call a hundred times

I'm not one of those crazy girls
I'm not one of those crazy girls
I'm not one of those crazy girls
I'm not one of those crazy girls

Hey, baby, are we over now?
Maybe I can change your mind
As soon as you walk out my door
I'm gonna call a hundred times
Baby, are we over now?
Maybe I can change your mind
Soon as you walk out my door
I'm gonna call a hundred times

Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh

Now I'm one of those crazy girls
Now I'm one of those crazy girls
Now I'm one of those crazy girls
Now I'm one of those crazy girls

    Song Comparison

Really? No one else associated this song with Alanis Morisette's "Your House" hidden track on the Jagged Little Pill album? I'll make some comparisons.

Her song starts out like this:

"I went to your house Walked up the stairs Opened your door without ringing the bell Walked down the hall Into your room where I could smell you And I shouldn't be here Without permission Shouldn't be here."

Obviously very similar to Haley discussing using the key to get in the house without permission when he's not home, and then smelling his clothes in the closet. Alanis goes on to ask:

"Would you forgive me love if I dance in your shower? Would you forgive me love if I laid in your bed? Would you forgive me love if I stay all afternoon? "

Much like Haley asking "Baby are we over now? Maybe I can change your mind" then reiterating that she's not a crazy girl. While Alanis discovers her lover has moved on with these lyrics:

"I noticed a letter that sat on your desk It said: "Hello love. I love you so, love. Meet me at midnight." And no, it wasn't my writing I'd better go soon It wasn't my writing"

She realizes it's over, comes to terms with it, and ends the song with "So forgive me love if I cry in your shower So forgive me love for the salt in your bed So forgive me love if I cry all afternoon"

Much like Haley realizing how crazy she sounds, and that she is exactly the crazy girl she never wanted to be, because of this guy. Still, both songs are extremely sad and emotional to listen to, and don't have happy endings.

Nice work, Haley, for paying an homage to Alanis! :)

    My Interpretation

this song is about an overly attached girlfriend. But you can't judge it by its meaning. Because the poetry here is so amazing, you couldn't even imagine that you could have a lot of words with just one thing: I can't let you go.

now as the song goes by, the girl isnt ready to let go, she's still into the guy(IS THIS THE SEQUEL OF STILL INTO YOU?). However, she thinks she's not one of those crazily inlove girls, but on the second verse, she's becoming crazier,

I pour my heart out to your voicemail, Let you know I caught a bus to your side of town. Now I’m standing at your doorstep, With Los Angeles behind me. If you don’t answer I’ll just use the key, That I copied 'cause, I really need to see you

If your not here when I break in I’m gonna go to go to your closet, Just so I can smell you skin. As the chemicals swim I know I’ll never love again

at the end of the song, she said she's one of those crazily inlove girls who would do anything just to get back and work things out.

This song is obviously about a relationship coming to an end. I think the significance of the song is that the girl has never been crazy like this before over a dying relationship, hence why she keeps repeating she's not one of those crazy girls. But by the end of the song, she realizes that this is the first time she's felt so strongly, that she's manic and doing crazy things. So of course at the end, she realizes she is one of those crazy girls.

    My Interpretation

Relationship drama, going through difficulties in a relationship through arguments and being apart for long periods of time. Basically just trying to be as close to the person you love when they're not around, missing them and feeling like you're going crazy because you love them and need them in your life so badly.

This is about a breakup and how the girl is stalking him and can't let go of him.

She wasnt one of those girls that was crazy over a guy, but he made her that way. He made her fall head over heels, when he wasnt really interested in the first place.

"Now when you say you want to slow down, Does It mean you want to slow dance? Maybe you want a little extra time, To focus on our romance. What do you mean I got it backwards? You know we're gonna be forever. Why are you tellin me goodbye? Aren’t you gonna stay the night?"- She doesnt get the message that he wants nothing to do with her. He's telling her that she's got it backwards, he doesnt want her. But she thought that they were going to be forever.. Why is he leaving? Saying goodbye? She thought he was going to stay with her. Now she's wondering if they're are really over, cause she doesnt believe that, she thinks that she can change his mind and maybe if she calls him a lot he'll come back.

"Now I walk under a pink sky (oooh) Love has float along and passed me by. I pour my heart out to your voicemail, Let you know I caught a bus to your side of town. Now I’m standing at your doorstep, With Los Angeles behind me. If you don’t answer I’ll just use the key, That I copied cuz, I really need to see you"- Now she's in his town at his door, and telling how much she loves him through voicemail, telling him that she's here. And if he doesnt answer she's just going to get in, and smell his clothes. Now I’m one of those crazy girls- now she realizes that she's one of those girls, he changed her into one of those crazy girls.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
