"Blue Ocean Floor" as written by Justin R. Timberlake, James Edward Ii Fauntleroy, Jerome Harmon, Timothy Z. Mosley and Chris Godbey....
Frequencies so low
Heart on a string
A string that only plays solos
Rain made of echoes
Tidal wave rushing on and on

Under the water you scream so loud but the silence surrounds you
But I hear it loud and you fall in the deep and I'll always find you

If my red eyes don't see you anymore
And I can't hear you through the white noise
Just send your heartbeat I'll go to the blue ocean floor
Where they find us no more
On that blue ocean floor
On that blue ocean floor
On that blue ocean floor
On that blue ocean floor
On that blue ocean floor

Shell made out of gold
Found on a beach picked up and you held so close
Rain washed out it's glow
Heartbeat steadily leads me down below

Under the water you scream so loud but the silence surrounds you
But I hear it loud and you fall in the deep and I'll always find you

If my red eyes don't see you anymore
And I can't hear you through the white noise
Just send your heartbeat I'll go to the blue ocean floor
Where they find us no more
On that blue ocean floor
On that blue ocean floor
On that blue ocean floor
On that blue ocean floor
On that blue ocean floor

20,000 leagues away, catch up to you on the same day
Travel at the speed of light, thinking the same thoughts at the same time
Heartbeat set at steady pace, I’ll let the rhythm show me the way
No one can find us here, fade out and disappear

If my red eyes don't see you anymore
And I can't hear you through the white noise
Just send your heartbeat I'll go to the blue ocean floor
Where they find us no more
On that blue ocean floor
On that blue ocean floor
On that blue ocean floor
On that blue ocean floor
On that blue ocean floor

Song MeaningAt first, being an emotionally slow song it had this passionate sense for something deep. As the lyrics go, lack of communications are pushing a love on the edge that life drifted apart, (sadly to think) causing to drown themselves. The red eyes are from the tears for crying, and every often go to the beach where that heart is down deep on the blue ocean floor.
Then, I thought maybe it is late night communications, connecting with eachother, distance are oceans away but a heart can meet on the blue ocean floor. Only a mere few with know what a blue ocean floor is, let's just say alsorts of things swim around there but it's all the same in the end.

General CommentThe lyrics. Funny how the lyrics of a song can be applied to some situations more closely than others. This song spoke to me of a person I only knew briefly but who was loved by so many.... and he perished in the Kauai surf from a freak rogue wave that literally pulled him into the deep blue. He was never recovered, but his best friend who went in after him was recovered, lifeless. A very sad loss of two very special, bright and beautiful lights, now in our skies at night. Both were naturalists, dancers, loved life, loved people, loved everything and everyone. I like to think that the one who was never recovered is really just returned to the Mother earth and had become all a part of us, for those who knew him and miss him, he is the air they breathe and forever the ocean we all love.

My InterpretationSo often life seems to get in the way of a good relationship. Obligations to others, distance, and just plain stress put loved ones on edge or strain a situation.

When I hear this song I think of where I am in my life. In a love so wonderful and beautiful, so ready to start a life with someone else, but with no way to get it jump-started for the time being. It's frustrating - but more than anything else we have each other. So much of our strength lies in our ability to call out to each other - to "send your heartbeat" - and to occasionally get some time on that blue ocean floor, reminding ourselves what we're setting up for ourselves and each other.

General CommentMy interpretation. It's all metaphors. To me, this song is about someone he has lost contact with somehow in his life, someone who was very special to him.

    "Heart on a string
A string that only plays solos
    Rain made of echoes
Tidal wave rushing on and on"-----She wears her heart on her sleeve. She's was left all alone in a situation and no one came to help her, and when it rains it pours, She was going through hard times.

"Under the water you scream so loud but the silence surrounds you
But I hear it loud and you fall in the deep and I'll always find you"---She attempts to come back into the spotlight and give her best effort, but no one notices, no one hears, but he does and watches from a distance...but she continues to fall from grace into the deep.

"If my red eyes don't see you anymore
And I can't hear you through the white noise
Just send your heartbeat I'll go to the blue ocean floor
Where they find us no more"---He's cried over missing her and the only way he sees her is through the television (white noise). If she doesn't want to see him or can't forgive him ever again, just send her heartbeat. He'll do what it takes be re-connected with her. Even if that means going someplace where he is not comfortable.

    "Shell made out of gold
Found on a beach picked up and you held so close
    Rain washed out it's glow
Heartbeat steadily leads me down below"---Success, triumphs and "gold" records she enjoyed once. She was the golden girl once but controversy has tarnished her image and she has left the spotlight.

"Blue Ocean Floor" is where she went when her career suffered...He's talking to Janet Jackson

General CommentThis song really isn't that DEEP. No pun intended. You just have to notice the references and the definitions of certain things.

This song uses a lot of musical references, which makes sense, since Justin is a musician/singer.

BLUE OCEAN - The Girl. Blue Oceans are beautiful.

FLOOR - The Girl at her lowest, emotionally.

FREQUENCIES SO LOW - In audio engineering, if a frequency is so low, usually bass frequencies, it can't be heard.

HEART ON A STRING - Comes from the phrase; PULLING AT MY HEARTSTRINGS, which means something or someone who has touched you emotionally, usually in a compassionate way.

STRING THAT ONLY PLAYS SOLOS - String being a part of a musical instrument. Solo of course means by yourself. She is dealing with loneliness.

RAIN MADE OF ECHOS - Most see RAIN as bad weather which is also used as a metaphor for trying times. ECHOS usually happen in EMPTY SPACES where sound is delayed, depending on the DISTANCE between the audio source and the object the audio bounces off of, before the sound makes it's way back to your ears. SPACE - is also referred to as distance, openness or the musical term, REVERB. I know the words empty, space, distance and reverb aren't in the song, but this should give you some idea of how my brain thinks. I'm a songwriter/musician.

TITLE WAVES RUSHING ON AND ON - This line sets up the next part about WHITE NOISE, which is another audio engineering term. If you were under the ocean listening to the TITLE WAVES RUSHING, the sound can be described as white noise from an audio engineer's perspective. Although, some White noise is inaudible.

BUT I HEAR IT LOUD AND YOU FALL IN THE DEEP AND I'LL ALWAYS FIND YOU - He notices that she is lonely and in need of someone. He is there for her when no one else seems to care.

RED EYES - hmmmm.... Well, if you were swimming to the ocean floor, you'd have to see which way you were going, which means your eyes would have to be open. At some point though, your eyes would be irritated by the salt water of the ocean and you would have to swim with your eyes closed, and if he can't see, he would have to depend on the beat of her heart to find her, which is where he is going with the next line.

AND I CAN'T HEAR YOU THROUGH THE WHITE NOISE (again, white noise being the sound of the title waves crashing) or silence of the ocean.

SHELL MADE OUT OF GOLD FOUND ON A BEACH, PICKED UP AND HELD SO CLOSE - There are millions of shells on the shore of an ocean. Most are too tiny to see and we walk all over them not knowing. This shell in particular is made of gold (It stands out). He notices her.

HELD SO CLOSE. They say if you hold a shell to your ear, you can hear the ocean.

20,000 LEAGUES - A LEAGUE is an old fashioned measurement of distance which is about 3 miles. Take that and multiply it by 20,000 and you get 60,000 miles. This is an over exaggerated way of showing just how far he would go for this woman.

CATCH UP TO YOU ON THE SAME DAY - He would have to be moving at the speed of light if she was 60,000 miles away. He is a superhero. lol.

THINKING THE SAME THOUGHTS AT THE SAME TIME -They are now in sync with each other.

HEARTBEAT SET AT A STEADY PACE - If your heartbeat was at a steady pace, it means you are calm. She knows that he is on his way to save her from drowning in her sorrows and she isn't sad or worried anymore.

NO ONE CAN FIND US HEAR FADE OUT AND DISAPPEAR - They are lost in love.
