You're on your own
In a world you've grown
Few more years to go
Don't let the hurdle fall
So be the girl you loved
Be the girl you loved

I'll wait
So show me why you're strong
Ignore everybody else
We're alone now
I'll wait
So show me why you're strong
Ignore everybody else
We're alone now

Suddenly, I'm hit
It's the starkness of the dawn
And your friends are gone
And your friends won't come
So show me where you fit
So show me where you fit

I'll wait
So show me why you're strong
Ignore everybody else
We're alone now
(We're alone now)
I'll wait (we're alone now)
(We're alone now)
(We're alone now)
I'll wait (we're alone now)
(We're alone now)
(We're alone now)
(We're alone now)
(We're alone now)

Suddenly, I'm hit
It's the starkness of the dawn
And your friends are gone
And your friends won't come
So show me where you fit
So show me where you fit

    My Interpretation

When I first heard this song I was like: oh god that's mean I was thinking he sings about a really old woman who's in elderhouse with a friend from there who actually dies ... :/ Made me feel even more depressive.

    Explanation:

You're on your own, in a world you've grown Few more years to go, ** you grew old in the world, "few more years to go" ... till you're dead

Don't let the hurdle fall So be the girl you loved, ** hang on, enjoy the rest of the live and be the girl - a child, remember your memories from childhood when you had fun

I'll wait, so show me why you're strong Ignore everybody else, ignore all those mean youngsters who have NO idea what you experienced We're alone now I'll wait, so show me why you're strong I'm with you (maybe a guy in elderly house) show me what you learned in your life. You're strong. death will come, be strong ?

We're alone now ** all our friends are already dead

Suddenly I'm hip Is this darkness of the dawn ** I've calmed, my hour is coming, am dying

And your friends are gone When you friends won't come ** now even I (the last friend you had) died and the friends won't ever come again ...

I think after what I've read here, I'm so glad that it wasn't about the story I imagined... Makes me feel better for James that he doesn't have such cruel songs :D Maybe I'd understand it differently if English was actually my mother language :D

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
