I know it's late but I'd like to know
How you wanna play this out
The chemistry that you're letting go
Could've brought a change about

If it suddenly comes back to haunt us
I know I, I did my best
If collectively we here the warnings
We'll be fine, we'll be fine

... hesitation ... be gone
Take the wind out of my sails
A cleaner slate or a blank page
Let the natural come out

My Interpretation"I know it's late but I'd like to know
How you wanna play this out"

Possibly talking about breaking up and seeing where the other partner stands

"The chemistry that you're letting go
    Could've brought a change about"

They had a lot of chemistry together in the past, he knows her enough to sense a change in that, and he wants to try to regain that chemistry back

"If it suddenly comes back to haunt us I know I, I did my best"

When they break up and he starts to miss her, he would just have a peace of mind that he did his best to please her

"If collectively we here the warnings
We'll be fine, we'll be fine"

If they both feel they are growing apart then maybe it's a sign that they are and will just accept it rather than being sad about it
