"Sight of the Sun" as written by Andrew Dost, Jack Antonoff and Nate Ruess....
For once there is nothing up my sleeve
Just some scars from a life that used to trouble me
I used to run at first sight of the sun
Now I lay here waiting for you to wake up

The city outside still sounds like it’s on fire
You put on new sheets
The white flag of a Saturday night
I know we stayed up talking in circles
But I like to think the symmetry
Will keep me close to you
For everyone, I’m out to pull wrong, you keep the light on
The only one, you now me better than the truth
So despite what I’ve done I pray to God that we can move on
Cause thus far you are the best thing that this life is yet to lose

And, for once there is nothing up my sleeve
Just some scars from a life that used to trouble me
I used to run at first sight of the sun
Now I lay here waiting for you to wake up
I lay here waiting for you to wake up

So if you gonna leave, if you gonna go
I can’t bare to sleep without you in my arms
I know we got caught up slipping through a crowd of people and losers
But you must not let them take you
They don’t know you like I do

For once there is nothing up my sleeve
Just some scars from a life that used to trouble me
I used to run at first sight of the sun
Now I lay here waiting for you to wake up
I lay here waiting for you to wake up

Do you remember when we stayed up till the sun stretched through the room
I used to blame it on the queens walking down 7th Avenue
It’s been years now since we moved
I’ve gotten through with an excuse
You know I try not to speak superlatives
But it’s impossible to you

The city outside is nothing but a flicker now
You see our friends to bed, you turn out the lights
I start to think you’ll make a beautiful mother, I
I like to think I have everything I want from this life

My InterpretationHonestly, this song feels like a couple who had a big fight one night, but settled everything and now feel more loving to each other after going through it.

For once there is nothing up my sleeve
Just some scars from the life that use to trouble me
I use to run at first sight of the sun
Now I lay here waiting for you to wake up

(This man used to be dishonest to the woman he loved but since their fight he stopped but he remembers that time. He used to hide from his problems and leave her alone but has now decided to revive their relationship and stay with her)

The city outside still sounds like it's on fire
    You put on new sheets
The white flag of a Saturday night
I know we stayed up talking in circles
But I like to think the symmetry will keep me close to you

(This is the morning after the fight. There is still a little anger, but they actually slept in the same bed as a truce. They stayed up all night to fix it and they finally feel like their relationship might work after all)

For everyone I'm about to prove wrong
    You keep the light on
The only one you know me better than the truth
    So despite what I've done
I pray to God that we can move on
Cause thus far you are the best thing that this life has yet to lose
    And...
(A lot of people didn't believe it would work out it the first place. But they deeply love each other and he knows that. He wants to leave behind his wrongs and just start over with her. He loves her more than anything but didn't realize it.)

So if you're gonna to leave
If you're gonna go (come on)
I can't bear to sleep without you in my arms
I know we caught up slipping through a crowd of people and losers
But you must not let them take you
They don't know you like I do

( She threatened to leave last night and he was heartbroken. He can't live without her. Between the time they first meet and now they've seen other people but both know that nothing can compare to the relationship they have. They know each other inside and out.)

Do you remember when we stayed up
Till the sun stretched through the room
I use to blame it on the queens walking on 7th Avenue
It's been years now since we moved
I've gotten through with an excuse
You know I try not to speak superlatives
    But it's impossible to you

(Now he's talking weeks/months/years about that night. It was hard being in a committed relationship. He made reasons for not loving her and not being with her to avoid trouble and it worked until then. For the superlatives part he either
    A. Never used words like best, prettiest, lovliest (superlatives) on anbody but her
    B. She used those words to describe him but at the time he avoided it)

The city outside is nothing but a flicker now
You see your friends to bed
    You turn out the lights
I start to think you'll make a beautiful mother
I like to think I have everything I'll want from this life

(This is the present day. Their conflict is resloved almost completely. " You put your friends to bed" maybe is all of the people who doubted them. Or actually showing friends to their rooms. Before "[She] kept the light on" when they fought and now things are better "You turn out the light." He know feels secure enough to think about the future, having a family together, and finally feels that he has everything he needs.)

I love this song so much :) It just really shows that things can get better

General CommentI think this song is about having a bunch of one night stands and he finally wants to settle down with this girl " I used to run at first sight of the sun Now I lay here waiting for you to wake up" when he talks about tricks up his sleeve maybe meaning picking up girls but he finally met this girl who he wants to spend the rest of his life with even though he never thought he would find someone like that.

that is just my interpretation not sure but i love this song

General CommentGoodness such an awesome song. I think it's about growing up and moving away from perhaps your partying ways where you're with different women a lot and finally settling down with one. I love the final verse where goes "the city outside is nothing but a flicker now. you see our friends to bed, you turn out the lights. I start to think you'll make a beautiful mother and I like to think I've everything I want from this life." Beautiful summary of growing up where the woman you love is gonna be a fucking awesome wife and mom and your friends are growing up with you and your life is good. I love it. fun. is awesome
