"Perfect Life" as written by Jason Mcarthur, Johnny Andrews, Jasen Rauch, Anthony Armstrong, Joe Rickard, Randy Armstrong and Mike Barnes....
You pretend to what you say you feel
You pretend that you're something special
All your lies that you hide behind
I see right through you
See right through you

Paint it on, cover every inch
Any flaw will expose your weakness
I'm immune to your fantasy
I won't become you
Won't become you

You want a perfect, perfect life
Nothing wrong, nothing real inside
All I see is a perfect lie
I don't want your perfect life
I don't want your perfect life

So keep your dream with no consequence
You damage me just to feed your senses
All your fake for reality
I see right through you
See right through you

Take your pride, take your vanity
Can't you see that your ego's empty
I will turn, I will walk away
I won't become you
Won't become you

You want a perfect, perfect life
Nothing wrong, nothing real inside
All I see is a perfect lie
I don't want your perfect life
I don't want your perfect life
I don't want your perfect life

My eyes are wide open
I see the enemy, the hypocrisy
Your cover is fading
Secrets pouring out, castles falling down
Nothing to hide behind
I know who I am inside
I'm perfectly broken

You want a perfect, perfect life
Nothing wrong, nothing real inside
All I see is a empty lie
I don't want your perfect life
I don't want your perfect life

I don't want your perfect life
I don't want your perfect life
The perfect life

General CommentWow. I think all of you are way overthinking this. For me this song represents a parent or significant other or friend or something that are trying to make a perfect life but the singer is saying there is no such thing and "I don't want your perfect life"

My InterpretationFirst of all, just wanted to apologize for my bad english but it's not my main language.

For the band this song probably talk about satan, seeing as they're a Christian rock band. Satan is a manipulator and he tries to pretend people trust in him, 'cause he makes them feel like they'll have a perfect life with him.
But they (the band) can see through satan's lie and don't trust in him.

For me this song has a different meaning and I'd like to share it with you.

"You pretend what you say you feel
You pretend that you're something special
All the lies that you hide behind
    I see right through you,
    See right through you."

I see this verse as my present is talking to my past.
I've been through a lot of troubles in the past and I always tried to lie about my condition. I thought people couldn't understand how I feel so I kept telling them "I was alright", "I was fine" and they always thought "I was a special person". But that was a big lie. I wasn't special, I wasn't fine and I wasn't alright.
Only I could see through my lie.

"Paint it on, cover every inch
Any flaws will expose your weakness
    I'm immune to your fantasy
    I won't become you,
    won't become you"

"Paint it on, cover every inch" could mean this person is covering his scars 'cause he's too scared to reveal them to anyone. He tries to cover them with paint and he can't make anybody see his inch.
Any flaws could expose his weakness and he doesn't want to.
He thinks his immune to the fantasy's of the people who hurt him and he will never become like them.
He tries to be a better person but he's suffering so much.

    "You want a perfect
    Perfect Life
    Nothing wrong, nothing real inside
All I see is a perfect lie
I don't want your perfect life"

The person wishes for a perfect life.
He'd… like to pretend he has a perfect life.
He's lying so much that he doesn't feel anything anymore. He's covering and anything won't hurt him.
But, after all, something in his mind begin to tell him…
"All I see is a perfect lie"

"So keep your dream with no consequence
You'd damage me just to feed your senses
    All you fake for reality
    I see right through you,
    see right through you"

This person keep dreaming about his perfect life, but he's not really realizing it. There are no consequence 'cause he doesn't want to act for anything.
He also began to damage people around him.
    So…. He fakes for reality.
But he can't avoid that He can see right through his lie.
So he began to be paralyzed.

    "Take your pride,
    take your vanity
Can't you see that your ego's empty
    I will turn,
    I will walk away.
    I won't become you,
    won't become you."

This is… Probably my favorite verse.
This person has no pride, no vanity and his ego's empty.
    This person has anything.
But…. He begins to feel like he doesn't deserve all that pain. He doesn't deserve to cover his scars.
So he goes away. He begins to run away from people who hurt him, he takes his distance from them
It doesn't matter how much he suffered, he'll never be like them.

"I don't want your perfect life"

He doesn't want that perfect life anymore. He doesn't want to keep like that, he's just suffering and he begins to realize he's hurting himself.
    It doesn't matter… After all, nothing's perfect.

    "My eyes are wide open
I see the enemy, the hypocrisy
    Your cover is fading
Secrets pouring out, castles falling down
    There's nothing to hide behind
I know who I am inside
    I'm perfectly broken."

This people begins to see reality. He starts to realize he doesn't have to prove anything to anyone.
He begins to know himself and along the way he discovered something…
He's not perfect and perfection doesn't exist.
He's not a perfect person and he doesn't need to show other people about his perfection.
He's beautiful the way he is.
So he interrupts covering his scars, he shows them to people… Let people see his weakness.
And he probably feels beautiful for the first time in his like.
He discovered that there's nothing better than being perfectly broken and that's not a shame.

He doesn't want a perfect like anymore.

    Song MeaningPerfect life,
since this band is christian, the lyrics match up correct with the enemy being satan (the devil) or it could be also talking about a person being used by him like the anti-christ,
but apprently they dont say these names, but lets just go more in depth of the lyrics and see what it could possibly mean.

"""""''All the lies that you hide behind" - A bible verse that supports that it could be referring to The devil is in

John 8:44 ....because there is no truth in him, , when he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own : for he is a liar and the father of it

(this verse is saying that the Devil is the Father of lying in other words he evented lying, so all that he speaks of is nothing but lies,
and Red in the lyrics is saying that he can see right through all his lies that he hides behind which are schemes he hides from us knowing the actual truth )

'' Dont want a perfect, perfect life, nothing wrong. nothing real inside , all i see is a perfect lie, i dont want your perfect life''

this can only be satan being speaking of because he is the only that can possible offer you a perfect life for the price of your soul, but in reality is a scheme and lie
These lyrics can fit right in with the temptation Jesus Faced as he was fasting because we see satan trying to offer Jesus a perfect Lie
but Jesus christ being omnipotent (all knowing) made it impossible for him to get fooled,

also the bible states that he is the ""'Truth" in (John 14:6) so he can easly dicern the lies from the enemy
    and in chapter Matthew 4:1-11 it shows how Jesus rebuke the devil's Perfect lie!!!! i wont put all the of these verses but lets just see;

matthew chapter 4:8-10 - 8: again the devil taketh him upinto an exceeding high mountain, and shewth him all the kingdoms of the world and the glory of them, 9: and said all these i will give unto you thee, if thou will fall down and worship me
10: then said Jesus unto him, get thee hence satan: for it is written, thou shall worship the lord thy God and him only shalt thou serve.

So we see that satan offered Jesus a perfect life of a lie but Jesus rebuked him.)
Doesnt it seem very similar to the lyrics, (''all i see is a perfect lie, i dont want your perfect life'') and it relates also to these lyrics

Take your pride, take your vanity
Can’t you see that your ego’s empty
I will turn, I will walk away
    I won’t become you
    Won’t become you

because Jesus Rejects the lie and walks away with Victory!!!

    okay now for these lyrics,

    My eyes are wide open
I see the enemy, the hypocrisy
    Your cover is fading
Secrets pouring out, castles falling down
    Nothing to hide behind
I know who I am inside
    I’m perfectly broken

Is the perspective of Red explaing how he sees all the lies behind the enemy in exposure, by dicerning his hypocrisy.
and then Red admits that all that is behind himself is his humilty, of him being Broken perfectly!!! which he is more proud of then being perfectly lied to!

I tried my best as i could to interpet this song with scripture and to hope that you can have a better understanding of the actual possible meaning of the message in this song and
so that you can be blessed by it like i was!! God bless!!

Song MeaningThe Songs meaning is quite simple. Being perfect by Faith rather than works. True Christianity is about receiving the Gift of Christ's RIGHTEOUSNESS (Perfection) by Faith. So many people think that God will only accept them when they are Perfect. The fact is NO ONE is perfect, and what people think is perfect isn't good enough for God. God doesn't want our Perfection!!!! God wants us to receive His. So God supplied Perfection to all of us, through His Son, Jesus Christ. We receive it by Faith (belief) in Him. We are under the New Covenant now, the Old Covenant is dead. The New Covenant is about a Righteousness by Faith, were the Old Covenant was about trying to work your way to Righteousness (No one was able to).

Romans 10:3 For they don't understand God's way of making people right with himself. Refusing to accept God's way, they cling to their own way of getting right with God by trying to keep the law.

Gal 5:4 For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God's grace.

    Eph 2
8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God– 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

My InterpretationHmmmmm...contemplating other comments! But I still see it as -- like Hollywood people or materially rich people. That they can buy their way out of everything. Perfect clothes, perfectly cooked food, expensive lawyers(that get them out of everything they do wrong), Perfect bodies etc... I think I got this from it because it's exactly how I would never want to be...PLASTIC People!

My InterpretationMany comments begin with how simple the song meaning is, and it is ... so keep the explanation simple.

The "perfect life" is referring to "perfect" in the eyes of the world. That is celebrity, materialism, pride, vanity, etc. are all just superficial replacements to hide behind rather than being yourself and who God meant you to be.
Being "perfectly broken" is accepting your flaws ..... be who you are.

Makes me think of Romans 12:2 .....
"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."

My InterpretationThis sounds like someone who is complaining about how bad their life is, but they are doing it for attention when they already know that their life is perfect
