Evagria was a strong and compassionate woman in life, adopted three children from offworld, and always helped people. When she died or a rare and painful bone disease, she was surrounded by loved ones, and showed strength and love even at the moment of her death.
As such, she is a pure soul, and her versions of the Keywork is a colorful, peaceful utopia.
The bulk of this song is Sirius, lying in the embrace of Evagria. Evagria forces Vic out and erects a force field around them, so no other souls can get near him. He then reflects on his life with Meri. His pursuit of the Keywork, and leaving her behind.
He wonders whether or not, he'll find paradise like Evagria, or if his leaving Meri will be his dark defining moment, and make him like the previous souls he encountered.

I'm reckoning Sirius is being saved from Vic the Butcher by Evagria. In the album version, I'm pretty sure he says 'from the other side she'll see me' the second time. This could be after he is absorbed into the keywork, and he is now on 'the other side' from Mary. Or it could be a mistake. Guess the liner notes might shed some light on that one.

This album is about Sirius Amory and about his discovery that the Keywork is made of lost souls. So I think that the songs with the titles 'Key Entity Extraction' are songs about him extracting a soul from the Keywork and each song is telling the story of that souls life, this one being about Evagria and her life.
This is a song about Sirius talking to Mary. At the end of Vic the Butcher the All Mother tells Sirius he is not well, but yet he continues on. Each time he extracts an entity, it takes a part of his life as well. He thinks he is about to die, and that's where the chorus comes in, it's what he is saying to Mary. "And from the other side, she'll save me Her courage, strength and heart beyond I wish she'd stay mine, but her place is in some other time" i think this means that the love from Mary is keeping him going, but he knows he has been gone to long and she has probably found another love interest. (which she has in good night fair lady) he knows that Mary won't be waiting for him when he gets back "bodies separating, sit and release... reaching desperately to salvage anything" Like i said, he thinks he is about to die, thats why he keeps saying 'goodbye forever' but Mary is also saying to him "You won't be forgotten" because he is the only person who sought out to learn about the keywork and she will always love him, but she can't wait for him to get back
SPOILER ALERT!!!!<br /> you are pretty close actually...sirius is not in a good state when the song starts. He witnesses an entity thats flickering in front of him, appearing and disappearing. So he reaches out to help this soul and on contact he can see what Evagria sees. Evagria is the Cop that who is now together with Mary, sirius wife. Evagria got shot either way by domino in the bankrobery or by holly wood on her killing spree. Evagria is deadly wounded and Mary is sitting next to his hospital bed. Sirius is angry at first when he finds out about them but then realises that he couldnt have been faithful to her since he wasnt around. He decides to say farewell to her through Evagria. When Evagria dies he becomes one with the keywork and the connection between them breaks.
I'm going to have to go with rizzosp on this one. I always just thought it was a matter of him seeing her in Evagria though, not that Evagria was the cop. I would think it's odd that these characters seem to be connected in some way. All of them are. You can basically hear them coming at the end of each of their songs. Vic's is just the most noticeable because you can hear his giant ass walking and talking at the end of Holly Wood.
Evagria sounds like a chicks name... which is what she is lol she is the entity that saves Sirius from Vic the Butcher and the other entities, but he is still very close to death
Apparently Evagria was a little girl, who died of a bone disease. Through it all, she was faithful that things would work out, so in the Keywork, she's happy, in a Utopia. After dealing with Vic the Butcher, Sirius is dying due to being divided by the entities. Evagria saves him.
She wasn't a little girl. She was a grown woman who was a social worker with a heart of gold. She adopted three children from the agency she worked with. She gave them a life they would have never had floating through the system. A home, an education, a stable means of life, and most importantly a loving Mother.

I think this song is obviously Sirius seeing the spirit of his wife.
Interesting idea, but his wife's name is Mary. From what I understand of the song, it seems like the music demonstrates the desperation Evagria feels while reading the lyrics, which are a "goodbye forever" letter from the love of her life. It's possible though that while this is all happening, Sirius is remembering the love he left back home and is feeling the same way he would if he saw his own wife's spirit.
Why would her name be changed then? None of the others had their names changed when they died.
