"Figure 8" as written by Jonny Lattimer, Elena Jane Goulding, Rocky Morris and Rufio Sandilands....
Breathe your smoke into my lungs
In the back of the car with you I stare into the sun
Still not too old to die young
The lovers hold on to everything
And others hold on to anything

I chased your love around a figure 8
I need you more than I can take
You promised forever and a day
And then you take it all away
(And then you take it all away)

Place a kiss on my cheekbone
Then you vanish me
I'm buried in the snow
But something tells me I'm not alone
But lovers hold on to everything
And others hold on to anything

I chased your love around a figure 8
I need you more than I can take
You promised forever and a day
And then you take it all away

So, Lovers hold on to everything
And others hold to anything
So, Lovers hold on to everything
And others hold to anything

I chased your love around a figure 8
I need you more than I can take
You promised forever and a day
And then you take it all away

I chased your love around a figure 8
I need you more than I can take
You promised forever and a day
And then you take it all away
(And then you take it all away)

My OpinionWhen I think of a figure 8, I think of the symbol for infinity...what I think she means is that she's always chasing after his love, never ceasing and never ending, but never reaching the end. A continues loop that goes on forever, because he lets it.

I chased your love around a figure 8
I need you more than I can take
You promised forever and a day
And then you take it all away

My InterpretationI guess what is meant by Figure 8 is the way the no. looks. It's maybe a metaphor... If you see the no. 8, there's no start and no end... Maybe this means that she will never stop loving him.. and never understood why she loved him soo much.

General CommentIt sounds like Ellie is singing "forever and a day" but I own Halcyon and the lyrics come included in the cd....... it's actually "forever everyday"
It trips me out, still a great song nonetheless
I feel like this song is about someone promising you the world and a future together, but they just took it all away by throwing away the relationship.. It can compare to my relationship with my the first real guy I dated, such powerful lyrics.

General CommentI believe this is a tragic love song about a someone who was so in love with another person. Believed everything he/she told them but then they broke all the promises. But every thing that was promised to the person, they clutch to, desperately trying to keep the connection of love from breaking. The figure 8 is the sign for infinity and its never ending, like the person trying to run for the love, never finding the end, but also never letting go of the initial feelings. The person, knows that it like being in a dream waiting, and contemplates suicide "still not to old to die young" I believe its suicide because of this, and to try and live in the dream, and in the loop of the figure 8 but when they were in love..

General CommentThis about chasing love to infinity. chasing a love that you will never get, it seems to me that this is about a girl chasing an empty love. this guy gave her some love/affection and is just toying with her heart. If you were in love with someone once, you will always be in love with them. you will always have memories or something to hold onto

General CommentIs it just me who feels like its about someone she loved who passed away? Idk why but in the video she almost seemed like she was mourning over losing them.
