Get in my boat
We'll sail away
I've always been scared
Scared of the sea

I'll give you some string
You'll find your way home
And I will be waiting
When you return

I can't steal his heart
But I can steal back mine
I can steal back mine,
I can steal back mine.

I can't steal his heart
But I can steal back mine.

Stand on the shore
Arm is outstretched
The stars, in their heavens,
are doing their best.

He calls my name
And I meet his eyes
Now I have lived
I might as well die

I'm saying things are, (they are, they are)
I'm saying things are, (they are, they are)
I'm saying things are, (they are, they are)
Going to change

I'm saying things are, (they are, they are)
I'm singing things are, (they are, they are)
I'm singing things are, (they are, they are)
Going to change

I can't steal his heart
but I can steal back mine
I can steal back mine
I can steal back mine

I can't steal his heart,
but I can steal back mine

Takes off my crown
Throws it to the sky
And we are emblazoned
As bright lights we'll thrive

Oh, we will thrive

I can't steal his heart
But I can steal back mine
I can steal back mine
I can steal back mine
I can steal back mine

I can't steal his heart
But I can steal back mine
Steal back mine

General CommentThis songs words contrast but the song means one thing.

    Get in my boat
    We'll sail away
    I've always been scared
    Scared of the sea

She's scared of the repercussions of love and how it can drive you to insanity.
But she's not scared of it much this time.

    I'll give you some string
    You'll find your way home
    And I will be waiting
    When you return

She's saying she will be there if he leaves. She has gave him' string' a time to wait to make sure he returns home.

    I can't steal his heart
But I can steal back mine
    I can steal back mine,
    I can steal back mine.

She realizes making someone love you depends on chance but your heart belongs to you.
So she thinks of stealing back her heart now that she's sure he won't come back.

    Stand on the shore
    Arm is outstretched
    The stars, in their heavens,
    are doing their best.

She's falling in love with him.

    He calls my name
    And I meet his eyes
    Now I have lived
    I might as well die

She's trying to run away from him. To attract him but also 'die' not see him for a while starve love to make it bigger.

I'm saying things are, (they are, they are)
I'm saying things are, (they are, they are)
I'm saying things are, (they are, they are)
    Going to change

She's a romantic optimist and when she's in love she is a super optimist she is planning to leave him so she know things are going to change but there boyfriend girlfriend relationship might be getting closer and more "intense"

    .

    I can't steal his heart
but I can steal back mine
    I can steal back mine
    I can steal back mine

    I can't steal his heart,
but I can steal back mine

She can't steal back her heart not yet they are in love she's trying to reassure herself but she doesn't mean a word. This is just a old plan that could work. Its a joke and she doesn't mean it anymore for a long time.

    Takes off my crown
    Throws it to the sky
    And we are emblazoned
    As bright lights we'll thrive

She decides to give up but thinks it was a good plan she abandons herself to love. She takes off her crown, and see what will and what has already unfolded.

    Oh, we will thrive
    Shes happy about her situation.

    I can't steal his heart
But I can steal back mine
    I can steal back mine
    I can steal back mine
    I can steal back mine

    I can't steal his heart
But I can steal back mine
    Steal back mine

    This is just a joke.
