Oh, Marcello
How I wonder
The Madonna she tell the truth, no?
She's been saying "I'll have a baby"
"When he grow up he become a killer"

I'm just a soul whose intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood
Understood

Oh, Marcello
Never thought I'd really love you but I do so
My headwaiter's head on your platter
Just say the word and
Salome can kiss my gutters

I'm just a soul whose intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood
Understood
Understood, ooh

I'm just a soul whose intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood

"I'm just a soul whose intentions are good Oh lord please don't let me be misunderstood"

Lyrics from Nina Simone's Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood - Animals did probably the most famous cover of this song.

I never feel comfortable by giving such a specific interpretation to someone elses song, but in this one as in many other of reginas song, i feel it could be a satire on catholic customs, virgin marys cult, in this case italian mafia.

if it were about mexican cartels it would be saying... "heeey juannito, how I wonder, la guadalupana when she speaks she tell the truth, no?" hahaha because here in mexico we do the "no?" question a lot as well as they do in italy, and the mexican cartels people are very well devoted to the virgin as well.

    LYRICS CORRECTION

I was reading the lyrics from the booklet at a local record store today and I found out it says "Salome can kiss my gutters" instead of "I'll make you kiss my gutters" O_O kinda makes more sense and makes the song even stranger...

I don't know why i find this song funny, but the part about the baby growing up to kill everybody, paired with the Italian accent is just too much xD

I don't know what this song is about, or what i think it's about... perplexing...

ah ha i think this about a serial killer. no duh. well dig deeper... maybe hitler? what would his momma say about his mess? would she be proud, or disgusted? well maybe while pregnant she prayed for a special son who would do something "big" and she got her wish granted. he did the "biggest massacre" in written history. but i think that hitler truly believed that he was doing something good. he doesn't want to be mis-enterpreted. yet some people took his side(3rd paragraph of song). interest song. who thinks that this about someone else? love the little vocalizing parts she does, very peaceful for the horrific lyrics. yet one of the songs with the deepest meaning.

    Well, this part:

"But I'm just a soul whose intentions are good Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood"

The music "Don't Let me be Misunderstood" (The Animals) has this part too. Maybe this is a hint...

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
