Change in color haunts me
Autumn leaves depleting
Truth be told i never
think of consequences
Go ahead and laugh it off
I find my comfort as i start to cough
In the corner you just crack your little jokes
The pretty faces they all make me choke

I will complicate things
with this constant thinking
Like a vacant mansion
or an empty handshake

Only truth will know me
as I'm decomposing
Never mind the smile
The temporary oh so juvenile
Go ahead and laugh it off
I'll find my comfort as i light one up and i start to cough
and in the corner you just crack your jokes
The pretty faces they all make me choke

I will complicate things
with this constant thinking
Like a vacant mansion
or an empty handshake

i will complicate things
with this constant thinking

My Interpretation"Change in color haunts me" could be referring to the singer's anxiety about growing older as he follows up with the changing color of seasons, "autumn leaves depleting." The greying of his hair or perhaps his failing vision could also symbolize his apprehension of aging. "The pretty faces, they all make me choke," I feel is referring to him laughing over the grim humor he gets when he sees beautiful, young faces, perhaps because he knows that the beauty of youth is only temporary and that they will succumb to death just like everyone else. The chorus drives home the fact that the singer is of a brooding nature as he casually posits the complexity and depth of ideas like "an empty mansion" or "an empty handshake."
