We were young and drinking in the park
There was nowhere else to go
And you said you always had my back
Oh but how were we to know

That these are the days that bind you together, forever
And these little things define you forever, forever

All this bad blood here, won't you let it dry?
It's been cold for years, won't you let it lie?

If we're only ever looking back
We will drive ourselves insane
As the friendship goes resentment grows
We will walk our different ways

But those are the days that bind us together, forever
And those little things define us forever, forever

All this bad blood here, won't you let it dry?
It's been cold for years, won't you let it lie?

And I don't wanna hear about the bad blood anymore
I don't wanna hear you talk about it anymore
I don't wanna hear about the bad blood anymore
I don't wanna hear you talk about it anymore

All this bad blood here, won't you let it dry?
It's been cold for years, won't you let it lie?

    My Interpretation

I feel that this song is about a friendship that went sour.

The first para shows the start of the friendship, when they were young. They were close friends. The friend said that he will always have his back. And these "little things" are what made the friendship stronger.

The chorus suggests that there had been a falling out. A fight of some sort. The singer is asking the friend to move past the fight and hopes to salvage the friendship.

The song goes on to show us that their fight has gotten to a point where their friendship is in the verge of vanishing, and they will have to go their separate ways.

The singer is asking his friend to forget about the 'bad blood' between them.

    My Interpretation

I feel like it's about two friends or lovers who had a really close relationship, but something happens to one of them, and the other is trying to get over it and cope with the pain of loss.

The first part talks about they knew each other when they were young, creating a close bond and that the two impact each other, that the little things affect you for life.

The chorus suggests that maybe the two had a falling out before it happened, and never got to say sorry or work it out, or that maybe they died in a particularly cruel or harsh way. "It's been cold for years, won't you let it dry," tells you that possibly they were reminded, or perhaps they brought it up on the news, still trying to figure out what it is, and the one trying to get over him/her just wants to forget.

The next verse says that the more they remember the person, the more they feel like they're breaking, instead of coping. They still really miss the person (They've been friends since childhood/teenage years) and they hate whoever kill/abducted their lover/friend, and grow more and more angry, but they know they need to give up and go on

The bridge is simply stating that they don't want to have anything to do with this anymore. He or she would simply like to forget it happened.

so basically this song is about the past

it's saying that the past makes you who you are "and those little things define us forever" but you shouldn't look back on the past too much "I don't wanna hear about the bad blood anymore" and you shouldn't let your past haunt you "all this bad blood here, won't you let it lie"

there are other quotes I could use to back this up, but I'm too lazy to get into it

so in a general statement, the song is about moving on from the past

    My Opinion

I believe that the song tells the story of everyone that lost a friend or loved one, and talks about trying to let that sadness go and move on...

This seems to me more like a political song about the long fought war between England and the Irish Republican Army. When they were young they were friends, now after years of war they have "bad blood" that badly needs to dry. Just my thoughts. This is a common theme for many Euro bands, U2 does many, David Grey, the song Zombie by the Cranberries, etc.

    My Interpretation

I feel that this song is about friends (boy and girl) who were under the influence, had an intimate moment and she ends up getting pregnant. They try to make a relationship out of the love for the child but it doesn't last because they don't love each other. They constantly blame each other for the failed relationship. And they end up resenting each other over it. Someone always tries to bring up the past but they never want to listen to each other. They should both let it go, but one person can't seem to put it behind them. Even after years.

    My Interpretation

I like DullFlame's idea, However, to me it seems a little different.

It sounds like the (especially in the chorus) that a dead person is singing to someone who regrets the soured relationship they shared towards the end of the singer's days. The deceased singer is urging their friend/partner to move on instead of continuing to feel guilty and miserable to the point where it becomes frustrating for them to observe (I don't wanna hear you talk about it anymore).

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Midnight
Ed Sheeran
“Midnight” is a song about finding a love that is so true that it provides a calming feeling through every storm. Ed Sheeran reflects on his good fortunes in landing someone with such peace and support and speaks of not fearing the dark days because he knows they’ll all end in the safety nets of her arms. “Well, good morning there / What a way to start the day / With everything laid bare,” Ed Sheeran sings in the first verse, enthusiastic to be waking up beside his woman. He apologizes for missing her calls in the second verse and promises to return them because for him, speaking to her is the most important thing. “Well, I get lost inside my head / In this chaos, you’re my calm / And I will find my feet again / ‘Cause еven the worst days of my life will always еnd / At midnight in your arms,” sings Ed Sheeran in the chorus, revelling in his good luck.
