I'm afraid that I gotta do what I gotta do
But if I let you go, where you gonna go?
We gotta make a change, time to turn the page
Something isn't right and I don't wanna fight you
We've been through tougher times, you know it gets worse
We can turn this around please let me be first
And as I feel your tears spilling on my shirt
Something isn't right I don't wanna fight you

Hey you, come over and let me embrace you
I know that I'm causing you pain too
But remember if you need to cry
I'm here to wipe your eyes

Tonight before you fall asleep
I run my thumb across your cheek (across your cheek)
Cry 'cause I'm here to wipe your eyes
I know I made you feel this way
You gotta breathe, we'll be okay (be okay)
Cry 'cause I'm here to wipe your eyes

Oh, oh 'cause I'm here to wipe your eyes
Here

When did we cross the line?
How could we forget?
Why do we let the pressure get into our heads?
Your broken heart requires all of my attention
'Cause something isn't right, I don't wanna fight you

Hey you, come over and let me embrace you
I know that I'm causing you pain too
But remember if you need to cry
I'm here to wipe your eyes

Tonight before you fall asleep
I run my thumb across your cheek (across your cheek)
Cry 'cause I'm here to wipe your eyes
I know I made you feel this way
You gotta breathe, we'll be okay (be okay)
Cry 'cause I'm here to wipe your eyes

Please don't lose your faith
Don't worry 'cause I'm here to keep you safe
I promise if you let me see your face
That I won't let you down
I won't let you down
I'm here to wipe your eyes

Tonight before you fall asleep
I run my thumb across your cheek (across your cheek)
Cry 'cause I'm here to wipe your eyes
I know I made you feel this way
You gotta breathe, we'll be okay (be okay)
Cry 'cause I'm here to wipe your eyes

    My Interpretation

My interpretation for this song is that the guy is a kind of guy who has a strong ego. Well, as we all known, mostly guys have strong egos but for this song though he has strong ego but when he saw her girl is already crying his ego goes down because of his love for his girl. How I wish many guys nowadays are like this and not only in this song. Remember, women are very emotional so guys just understand us and we really appreciate it and love you more than you'll ever imagine.

    My Interpretation

It might be a bit abstract, but I think this song is about a couple who are struggling in ending their relationship. Major lifestyle changes (moving, new job, etc) often create new situations that a relationship may or may not recover from. As much as you want to be together, it's often times better to separate and pursue the things that need to be done. Even though the couple loves each other they know that if they stay together, they won't be able to pursue what they truly love.

I also think the chorus documents the last moment of the relationship where the couple embrace for the final time before no longer being together. Even though they have to separate and cause each other a lot of pain, in the end it'll be okay and work out for the both of them- although without each other.

    My Interpretation

It seems to be a song about a couple that is going through a tough strain. They love each other very much, but like always, life gets in the way of everything, and the two have to part. Whether that means break up or just take things to a different level. They don't want to leave each other. All they want to do is stay in each other's embrace, and this would be their last. I actually cry every time I hear this song because it really has the power to connect with people on a deeper level, especially since it's from the mans perspective.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
