Well I knew what I didn't want to know
And I saw where I didn't want to go
So I took the path less traveled on
And I'll let my stories be whispered when I'm gone...

When I'm gone
When I'm gone
When I'm gone

Well in this life, you must find something to live for
'Cause when the darkness comes calling
You go back to where you were before
'Cause this life is as fragile as a dream
And nothing's ever really as it seems...

As it seems
As it seems
As it seems

Well I lost my innocence when in I let him dive
But the way he looked at me made me feel alive
And now I know nothing at all
But the release that comes when you're in mid fall...

In mid fall
In mid fall
In mid fall

'Cause in this life, you must find something to live for
'Cause when the darkness comes calling
You go back to where you were before
'Cause this life is as fragile as a dream
And nothing's ever really as it seems

As it seems
As it seems
As it seems

Song MeaningThis song is about someone who's dying and looking back.
Lily kershaw herself stated that it was about "death", inspired by a "life crisis" and a "troubesome romantic relationship".
Also the title "As it seems" suggest that she'll concentrate on the desillusion that comes with age.

Knowing that, here's my interpretation of a the less literal lines:

Well I knew what I didn't want to know
And I saw where I didn't want to go

***She basically lived a life full of hardship.

So I took the path less traveled on

***She made her own choices, and perhaps left a new trail that will become the road more often traveled.

And I'll let my stories be whispered when I'm gone...

***My stories=her life, her memory, her experiences.
    When I'm gone= When she's dead.

    When I'm gone
    When I'm gone
    When I'm gone

Well in this life, you must find something to live for
'Cause when the darkness comes calling

***When you're time has come (when you're dying)

You go back to where you were before

***"The dust returns to the ground it came from"....

'Cause this life is as fragile as a dream

***She realizes that as a human she's mortal, that she can die any time.
Also the use of "dream" emphasizes that life is full of illusions (and desillusions)

And nothing's ever really as it seems...

    As it seems
    As it seems
    As it seems

Well I lost my innocence when in I let him dive

***This probably means that she lost her virginity, but also she let him fall in love with her, and that by doing so she not only a "victim" anymore.

But the way he looked at me made me feel alive

And now I know nothing at all

***Could be that depiste her life experiences she still can't answer the "important questions of life" or that she's senile and forgetting because she's old.

But the release that comes when you're in mid fall...

***Just before winter, just before death.

    In mid fall
    In mid fall
    In mid fall

'Cause in this life, you must find something to live for
'Cause when the darkness comes calling
You go back to where you were before
'Cause this life is as fragile as a dream
And nothing's ever really as it seems

    As it seems
    As it seems
    As it seems

    ***I hope it helped.

My InterpretationSurprised this song doesn't have any interpretations on it yet

To me it seems to be a story of love.

"Well I knew what I didn't want to know
And I saw where I didn't want to go
So I took the path less travelled on
And I'll let my stories be whispered when I'm gone..."

I think the first verse is about breaking up with her ex. She knew she didn't want to be in the relationship so she broke up because she would rather people gossip about her than be trapped in a relationship that wasn't right.

Well in this life, you must find something to live for
'Cause when the darkness comes calling
You go back to where you were before
'Cause this life is as fragile as a dream
And nothing's ever really as it seems...

She is still broken up about losing the person as a friend and she feels that she isn't good enough for anyone. But she moves on and finds someone knew. Someone that can save her from the darkness and stop her from feeling sad about her mistakes.

Well I lost my innocence when in I let him dive
But the way he looked at me made me feel alive
And now I know nothing at all
But the release that comes when you're in mid fall...

Because she doesn't feel she deserves anyone, she shouldn't allow anyone to fall (dive) in love with her so feels like she is breaking the rules (losing her innocence) in doing so. But in letting him fall for her, she begins to fall for him and this shows her the joy she has been looking for (the joy of falling in love)

But that is just my opinion.

Also, I don't know why but the lyrics somehow remind me of "Northern Skies" by I Am Kloot.

General Commenti think that this song could be about escaping from and abusive or controllng realtionship.

"Well I knew what I didn't want to know
And I saw where I didn't want to go"

i think that she's realizing that this isn't a good relationship for her to be in and she's realizing that she has to leave

"Well in this life, you must find something to live for
'Cause when the darkness comes calling
You go back to where you were before"

in this line its saying that you have to move on and be happy because when the darkness (abusive ex) comes calling you will go back to them

"Well I lost my innocence when in I let him dive
But the way he looked at me made me feel alive"

in these lines she's talking about when she fell in love with him, and it explains that there was at one point love in their relationship

these are just what i got from the lyrics when i looked at them

General CommentI personally think that the song is about taking a chance and a risk after a bad relationship.

    The first verse:

"Well I knew what I didn't want to know
And I saw where I didn't want to go
So I took the path less traveled on
And I'll let my stories be whispered when I'm gone..."

I think that she is saying that she knows what she wants and what she doesn't want- in my mind I think she is falling for someone but is afraid to take the risk of the relationship ending badly.
It think that "I took the path less traveled on" is her deciding to take the risk and then she continues to say that she doesn't care what people will say if the relationship ends badly. (And I'll let my stories be whispered when I'm gone)

    The second verse:

"Well in this life, you must find something to live for
'Cause when the darkness comes calling
You go back to where you were before
'Cause this life is as fragile as a dream
And nothing's ever really as it seems..."

Here she is saying that if you don't have something/someone to life for or something/someone who makes you happy you will go back to your darkest self- in which case would be going back to the previous bad relationship.
The fact that this life is as fragile as a dream indicates how careful she is after the previous relationship and how she was blindsided by how badly it ended- in which case I think the person that the she was with turned out to be not how he seemed when they met.

    The third verse:

"Well I lost my innocence when in I let him dive
But the way he looked at me made me feel alive
And now I know nothing at all
But the release that comes when you're in mid fall..."

I think that this verse is talking about how she met the person that she is falling for. Such as the feeling of being "alive" when he looked at her. She is falling for him, and feels like she is in "mid fall"

Finally I just want to say how much i love this song and it is one of the most beautiful song that i have ever heard. It is probably the MOST played song on my ipod.
    Well done Lily Kershaw

My InterpretationTo me, this song is a memory.
Basically, I interpret it to be a girl looking back at her past and reliving all of her choices, whether they were good or bad.

"Well I knew what I didn't want to know,
And I saw where I didn't want to go,
So I took the path less travelled on,
And I'll let my stories be whispered when I'm gone,"

The first verse tells us that she knew things she didn't need or want to know and she could clearly see the way she wanted to go in life, as well as the life she didn't want. It tells us that she took a risk, which could have been quite controversial and a subject of gossip and discussion.

"Well in this life you must find something to live for,
'Cause when the darkness comes a-calling,
You'll go back to where you were before,
'Cause this life is as fragile as a dream,
And nothing's ever really as it seems,"

The second verse suggests that she is determined to find a purpose in life, because if something goes wrong, you'll be back to square one. If you don't have a purpose, you won't know where to start over. It indicates the she is aware of the fragility of life - something that takes a lifetime to build, but only takes a second to destroy - and you never know what life really is, or what it's about - you never know what you have until it's gone.

"Well I lost my innocence when in I let him dive,
But the way that he looked at me,
    Made me feel alive,
And now I know nothing at all,
But the release that come when you're in midfall"

To me, this third verse is about coming of age. She lost her virginity, or innocence, and regrets it, but at the time she didn't regret anything because he made her feel special and alive. But she now realises that she wasted her adolescence with him and the only thing she knows is that, even though she was falling from grace, there was some strange kind of relief that came with the fall.
