I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
Stand on up and take a bow
There is something there and it's showing
There is no need to look around you're the best we got going
Shout out to the dreams you'll chase
Shout out to the hearts you'll break
Nothing is gonna stop you now
I guess you better be going
You'll never be far, I'm keeping you near, inside of my heart, you're here
Go on, It's got to be time, you're starting to shine cause what you've got is gold
I know you're gold
Oh, I know I know
I don't even need stars in the night
I found my treasure
All I need is you by my side
So shine forever
Gold, I know you're gold
Oh I know you're gold
It won't take you long to get when you feel like your soaring
So write it all and don't forget, you gotta tell us your story
Shout out to the friends back home
Shout out to the hearts you've known
You gave them nothing but the best
Yeah, and you can tell them your story
You never be far
I'm keeping you near
Inside of my heart you're here oh
It's got to be time, your starting to shine cause what you have got is gold
I know you're gold
Oh, I know I know
I don't need stars in the night
I have found my treasure
All I need is you by my side
So shine forever
Gold I know you're gold
Oh, I know your gold
'Cause what you have got is gold
I know you're gold
Oh I know I know
I don't even need stars in the night
I found my treasure
All I need is you by my side
So shine forever
Gold, I know you're gold

This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it.
“I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
I've listened to this song quite a few times, and there's one meaning that allows ALL the lyrics to make sense to me, and I can relate to it very well.
It's likely a song about graduation, and having to part with friends and move onto different paths. The singer wants to wish all his friends good luck with their futures, encouraging them to believe in their potentials (the "gold" they've got). And he'll always treasure those friends.
I originally thought that this song could be sung from the point of view of a teacher to a very talented student, but a teacher is not likely to consider one student their "treasure" and that "all I need is you by my side". It could also be from a parent to a child, even though the writer (Adam Young) is fairly young doesn't have children. And "by my side" would more likely be speaking to friends of the same age.
I'd love to have this song played or even perform it at my graduation the end of this year (:
Honestly, I don't love Adam's new songs as much as his older songs. The older ones are something different from all other songs in the world! Of course these are great too, but I just say they were better..
But maybe sometimes a little change isn't that bad. I don't know... v___v
I can tell this song had a little bit more Adam Young input in it. The song lyrics follow the classic Owl City formula with the title being a beautiful and wondrous object and throughout the song connecting the title with a simple feeling. As for the sound, its very mainstream and Dr. Luke influenced but at least its catchy amd it sounds like a David Guetta impersonation of an Owl City loop. I love this song because its trying something very new while still respecting Adam Young's roots. As said by choclemon, i do believe this a song about going separate ways to show off what theyve got, which is "gold." This song makes me excited about the new album.
I've always thought that this song was Adam's way of addressing somebody he had to part with, possibly at a graduation as someone else already suggested.
"Stand on up and take a bow There's something there and it's showing There's no need to look around You're the best we got going"
I think this is like talking to an insecure or uncertain person who doesn't really see how great they are or could be, and it's just Adam saying "Yeah, you deserve all this appreciation you're getting."
"Shout out to the dreams you'll chase Shout out to the hearts you'll break Nothing's gonna stop you now I guess you better be going"
This feels like wishing this person well with all their dreams and love life as well (I suppose) and kind of just pushing them along and saying, "you will be great and achieve amazing things in life, so just go for it."
The rest of the lyrics kind of follow along these same lines, so I won't go into incredible detail, but this in general, I feel this song is about Adam wishing someone well and telling them that they'll achieve their dreams and do great things in life, and he's kind of proud of them for that. My interpretation
When you look in the booklet that came with the album, you'll see that this is the only song on the album that didn't have any input by Adam, but was written only by some of the writers he worked with. So that makes me think this song is written about/for Adam. Adam said in an interview that the song is about not forgetting your roots. So I think the lyrics are what they want to tell Adam and maybe they were also showing him what they, as writers and producers, could bring to this album. That would also explain why this is the only song Adam didn't write on.
When someone love something too much, he/she try to be with the other one for the rest of their life. But sometimes we use to love things, not people. And sometimes we use to be in love with "people that does not exist". Don't you think that this song may be refer to god? Think:
"I know you're gold Oh, I know I know I don't need stars in the night I have found my treasure All I need is you by my side So shine forever"
Who sends us sms' saying "shine forever because you're my treasure and I need you"? Maybe our parents, but they don't usually do this. For me, and without knowing anything about this band, this song was written with the meaning that it doesn't has any exactly meaning, so all of us have to think in what the "gold" refer to us or what we want to put in our life with thwt meaning,
