Dry lightning cracks across the skies
Those storm clouds gather in her eyes
Her daddy was mean a old mister
Mama was an angel in the ground
The weather man called for a twister
She prayed blow it down
There's not enough rain in Oklahoma
To wash the sins out of that house
There's not enough wind in Oklahoma
To rip the nails out of the past

Shatter every window 'til it's all blown away
Every brick, every board, every slamming door blown away
'Til there's nothing left standing
Nothing left of yesterday
Every tear-soaked whiskey memory blown away, blown away, blown away

She heard those sirens screaming out
Her daddy laid there passed out on the couch
She locked herself in the cellar
Listened to the screaming of the wind
Some people called it taking shelter
She called it sweet revenge

Shatter every window till it's all blown away
Every brick, every board, every slamming door blown away
'Til there's nothing left standing
Nothing left of yesterday
Every tear-soaked whiskey memory blown away, blown away

There's not enough rain in Oklahoma
To wash the sins out of that house
There's not enough wind in Oklahoma
To rip the nails out of the past (blown away)

Shatter every window till it's all blown away
Every brick, every board, every slamming door blown away (blown away)
Till there's nothing left standing
Nothing left of yesterday
Every tear-soaked whiskey memory blown away
Blown away, blown away, blown away, blown away

This song kind of reminds me of "Independence Day" by Martina McBride, where the woman burns the house down with her drunken, abusive husband inside. One difference here is that instead of taking matters into her own hands, she seems to be calling on God to judge the man by sending a tornado. This song as a whole is kind of dark and spooky; not something I would have expected from Carrie Underwood.

Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
