"Valley of the Dolls" as written by and Marina Lambrini/nowels Diamandis....
In the valley of the dolls we sleep, we sleep
Got a hole inside of me, of me

Born with a void, hard to destroy with love or hope
Built with a heart, broken from the start and now
I die slow

In the valley of the dolls, we sleep
Got a hole inside of me
Living with identities
That do not belong to me
In my life, I got this far
Now I’m ready for the last hoorah
Dying like a shooting star
In the valley
In the valley
In the valley

Pick a personality for free
When you feel like nobody, body

Born with a void, hard to destroy with love or hope
Built with a heart, broken from the start and now
I die slow

In the valley of the dolls, we sleep
Got a hole inside of me
Living with identities
That do not belong to me
In my life, I got this far
Now I’m ready for the last hoorah
Dying like a shooting star
In the valley
In the valley
In the valley

Back to zero, here we go again, again
Racing down into oblivion
Back to zero, here we go
I can feel it coming to the end
The end

In the valley of the dolls, we sleep
Got a hole inside of me
Living with identities
That do not belong to me
In my life, I got this far
Now I’m ready for the last hoorah
Dying like a shooting star
In the valley
In the valley
In the valley
In the valley
In the valley

General CommentIf you read the book or watch the movie, or even read a review on it, you'll understand. Generally, the story is about three girls in new york, one wanting a new life away from her small town home, one a model who is earning money for her poverty-ridden family, the other a singer who is trying to make it big. The "Valley of the Dolls" is the art business. Modeling, singing, acting, writing, et cetera. The movie shows how tragic and unfair the business is, especially for people with real talent. "Dying like a shooting star, in the valley" is pretty much saying she wants to leave the legacy of fame and fortune, living her life in this horrible yet rewarding setting of the Valley of the Dolls, aka, music business.

General CommentI had been trough some depersonalization/derealization episodes lately and I can kinda relate to the song (??? so I feel like i'm not here, I feel like nobody, like there's a void or a hole in my body where I am suposted to be, but I am in some other place that i can't define. sometimes I can see myself from outside, I see someone that is and isn´t me at the same time, its like an identity that it's not me, but I know it is. I can understand my personality n stuff from other's point of view idc. but its about the book lol bye

General CommentI know that this song is based off of the film, but the meaning to me screams depression. "Born with a void hard to destroy with love or hope/Built with a heart broken from the start and now I die slow" have got to be the most powerful lyrics on this album because I've been majorly depressed for so long, and that describes perfectly the hopelessness you feel when no matter what you do or think, your life is pulled back into this dark hole. When you're struggling with this, you usually put on different identities when around other people so that they don't notice your sadness and make you explain everything that makes you "feel like nobody".

More specifically though,I think the song is about sinking back into depression after feeling clean and stable for a while,"Back to zero, here we go again",except this time she's giving up,"I can feel it coming to the end." It's really tranquil and calming to listen to,but it's very sad - a terrible place to be. :(

My InterpretationMy first thought was this is her talking about returning to Wales (the valleys) and back to zero (growing up in Wales).
