"I Am a Stone" as written by and Ryan Clark....
It's hard to say
That I'm back
On a straight line

You see my path
Is in fact
Just a fault line

It's in my blood, it's in my lungs
And it won't die

I fight these words, I bite my tongue
So I don't lie

Though it's me to blame
There is no more shame in me
In me

I just feel the same
Immune to all this pain
And the scars don't write a song for me at all

I am a stone, unaffected
Rain hell down onto me
Flesh and bone, unaffected
Your fool I will not be

I am a stone, unaffected (I am a stone)
Rain hell down onto me
Flesh and bone, unaffected (I am a stone)
Your fool I will not be

I try to see and believe
In the short sight
Accept the burn of a vain
And a half-life

And how you rest your faith in these for a lifetime
That hollow lie against my hope that I won't buy

Though it's me to blame
There is no more shame in me
In me

I just feel the same
Immune to all you say
And the scars don't write a song for me at all
No your tears won't line a path for me to crawl

I am a stone, unaffected
Rain hell down onto me
Flesh and bone, unaffected
Your fool I will not be

I am a stone, unaffected (I am a stone)
Rain hell down onto me
Flesh and bone, unaffected (I am a stone)
Your fool I will not be

The waters rise above my eyes
I will breathe it in and go out with the tide
And when you think this is the end
You will find me there where I have always been

I am a stone, unaffected
Rain hell down onto me
Flesh and bone, unaffected
Your fool I will not be

I am a stone, unaffected
Rain hell down onto me
Flesh and bone, unaffected
Your fool I will not be

I am a stone, unaffected (I am a stone)
Rain hell down onto me
Flesh and bone, unaffected (I am a stone)
Your fool I will not be

I am a stone
I am a stone

My Interpretation"It's hard to say That I'm back On a straight line
You see my path Is in fact Just a fault line"
Someone is trying to redeem themselves, but the attempt to make themselves better usually ends with failure.

"It's in my blood, it's in my lungs And it won't die"
Messing up, sin, is so much a part of the person that it is impossible to resist it.

"I fight these words, I bite my tongue So I don't lie
Though it's me to blame There is no more shame in me In me
I just feel the same Immune to all this pain And the scars don't write a song for me at all"
The person tries to fight it off by resisting themselves because they do not want to sin. The person acknowledges that it is there fault, but it no longer stings as it used to hurt. It is a fact of life, but they no longer fantasize about it. Their constant sinning is no longer a pretty idea to wallow in. It is not something to celebrate.

"I am a stone, unaffected Rain hell down onto me Flesh and bone, unaffected Your fool I will not be"
The person asserts to not crumble. Even though a lot of things can be affected by horrible things, the person will remain standing. There will not be a succumbing to sin. Even though sin may force the person to bow down, the person asserts to not even be affected in "flesh and bone" - opposite of "Sticks and stones will break my bones".

"I am a stone, unaffected (I am a stone) Rain hell down onto me Flesh and bone, unaffected (I am a stone) Your fool I will not be"
The person is chanting the resolution in their head, with an emphasis to not be affected.

"I try to see and believe In the short sight Accept the burn of a vain And a half-life"
The person had tried to live with sin because of ease and pleasure. The person knew it was an empty life, but they had still tried to make it work.

"And how you rest your faith in these for a lifetime That hollow lie against my hope that I won't buy"
After turning away from such a life, the person is disgusted by seeing their past repeated in others. The hedonistic life did not bring anything good, and the person is stating how foolish it is to believe sin will do something good. The past may try to persuade them, but they are not buying it.

"Though it's me to blame There is no more shame in me In me
I just feel the same Immune to all you say And the scars don't write a song for me at all No your tears won't line a path for me to crawl"
The person reacknowledges their previous lifestyle was wrong. No matter how much "their dark side" may crave for sin, the person is unmoved because they do not want to be pushed to the ground again.

"I am a stone, unaffected Rain hell down onto me Flesh and bone, unaffected Your fool I will not be
I am a stone, unaffected (I am a stone) Rain hell down onto me Flesh and bone, unaffected (I am a stone) Your fool I will not be"
Remember, the person has vowed to be unmoved. Again, the person tells the sin they will not bow even if "hell breaks loose", strengthening of resolve.

"The waters rise above my eyes I will breathe it in and go out with the tide And when you think this is the end You will find me there where I have always been"
The person is drowning, and they will accept it. Even though it may seem like being "over your head" and losing ground, the person will keep their decision.

"I am a stone, unaffected Rain hell down onto me Flesh and bone, unaffected Your fool I will not be
I am a stone, unaffected Rain hell down onto me Flesh and bone, unaffected Your fool I will not be
I am a stone, unaffected (I am a stone) Rain hell down onto me Flesh and bone, unaffected (I am a stone) Your fool I will not be"
The person entering the stage of mental integration where they are working up to the final, written in stone, decision.

    "I am a stone I am a stone"
The person upon the final, simple conclusion that they must remain firm.

General CommentMy own feelings is it about a man beaten to a bloody pulp, on the verge of death and at the mercy of his enemies. And yet he still says to them "I feel the same, immune to the pain and the wounds don't mean anything. For with the Lord I am a stone, unaffected. Rain hell on to me and I will not flinch. My flesh and bone are unaffected. I will not be your fool."
