"Breaking the Same Old Ground" as written by and Chris Alan Vrenna Brian Hugh Warner....
And then I found how to be what you want
I was out looking for something new
Digging too deep
And now it’s too late
We just keep on
Breaking the same old ground
Breaking the same old ground

So you think that I asked for this
Let me show you
What I think of your lips
And you think that I asked for this
Come on
Use your fist

And then I found how to be what you want
When I was out looking for something new
Digging too deep
And now it’s too late
We just keep on
Breaking the same old ground
Breaking the same old ground
We just keep on
Breaking the same old ground

So you think that I asked for this
Well, let me show you
What I think of your lips
And you think that I asked for this
Come on
Use your fist

When I found how to be what you want
I was out looking for something new
Digging too deep
Now it’s too late
We just keep on
Breaking the same old ground
We just keep on
Breaking the same old ground

Shh
Shh
I am owned by death
And
I’m in love with oblivion
I am owned by death
And
I’m in love with oblivion

My Interpretation"And then I found how to be what you want
I was out looking for something new"

This could mean: by the time he figured out how to successfully communicate with a broader audience, he is ready to move on to new messages and topics.

    "Digging too deep
    And now it’s too late"

He brought up controversial ideas - deep thinking - and it's too late to change that he has been judged harshly for it.

    "We just keep on
    Breaking the same old ground"

The general public can't get past the idea that he is the devil, so they cannot hear what else he might be saying.

"So you think that I asked for this"

The public thinks that MM had a goal to lead children into delinquency.

    "Let me show you
What I think of your lips"

MM thinks that idea is a bunch of crap.

    "Come on
    Use your fist"

Those who are judgmental should back up their words with actions.

    "Shh, Shh"

Just shut up, forget your judgments, and listen now to what he is saying.

    "I am owned by death
And I’m in love with oblivion"

MM is not fanciful idea, like the Devil, but a mortal person who will die like all others AND his true purpose is to explore what is within his own mind.

Song MeaningI think this song is pretty straight forward. Its all about him going back to the girl he wanted before but had moved on from because he thought they would never understand each other. And he finally learnt how to become what she wants him to be, while still being his-new-self.

Song MeaningHe now comes to the fruition of who he knew he could be, and he reflects on it. As the album closes, he admits who he is and why he is.

General Commentone more thing- I like how he's goading the person it's directed to, telling him/her to hit him ("use your fist").
