Listen up!
There's not a moment to spare
It's quite a drop
From the top
So how are you feeling down there?
It's a cold, cruel, harsh reality
Caught, stuck, here with your enemies!

Who do you think you are?
Tearing us all apart
Where did you think you could go?
'Cause everyone already knows
It's twenty to one
Yeah, so you better run!

You got the world on it's knees
You're taking all that you please
You want more! (You want more!)
But you'll get nothing from me
You're like the burden we bear
You love the hate that we share
You want more! (You want more!)
But you'll get nothing from me
But enemies! Enemies!

You started something that you just couldn't stop,
You turned the ones that you love into the angriest mob.
And their one last wish is that you pay for it
And there's no way you're getting out of this!

Who do you think you are?
Tearing us all apart
Where did you think you could go?
'Cause everyone already knows
It's twenty to one
Yeah, so you better run!

You got the world on it's knees
You're taking all that you please
You want more! (You want more!)
But you'll get nothing from me
You're like the burden we bear
You love the hate that we share
You want more! (You want more!)
But you'll get nothing from me
But enemies! Enemies!! Enemies!!!

Where did you think you could go?
'Cause everyone already knows
It's twenty to one
Yeah, so you better run!

You got the world on it's knees
You're taking all that you please
You want more! (You want more!)
But you'll get nothing from me
You're like the burden we bear
You love the hate that we share
You want more! (You want more!)
But you'll get nothing from me
But enemies! Enemies!

You got the world on it's knees
You're taking all that you please
You want more! (You want more!)
But you'll get nothing from me
You're like the burden we bear
You love the hate that we share
You want more! (You want more!)
But you'll get nothing from me
But enemies! Enemies! Enemies!

Get rid of "But" before "Enemies!"

Great song. This song is about when there is that one person in your life that is always bringing you and the ones you love down. This is just pretty much saying to get out of my life.

hell of a pick for the WWE Monday Night Raw theme song! I think it's about people who use you, one way or another. and how when the people they've used find out how they've been tricked, all that the person will gain will be enemies. how everybody perceives this person as a saint, but how you see through it.

    My Interpretation

“Enemies” is a badass song because Brent is talking directly to the devil.

“Listen up! There's not a moment to spare. It's quite a drop from the top, so how you feeling down there?” The devil is the one who took a “drop from the top” by falling from Heaven. Brent is speaking to him from above (“how you feeling down there”) because Brent is on the side of good with Heaven which is above and the devil is beneath Brent's feet.

“It's a cold, cruel, harsh reality, caught, stuck, here with your enemies” The devil is stuck here on Earth with his enemies, which are Shinedown and anyone who is a warrior who fights for good in the world.

“Who do you think you are? Tearing us all apart?” That’s what the devil does: he steals, kills, and destroys, and messes with people, makes them hurt each other and do evil things.

“Where did you think you could go? Cause everyone already knows, it’s twenty to one, so you better run!” When Satan fell to the Earth, so did the angels who followed him, but there are twice as many angels who stayed with God, so Satan is outnumbered and as they say in church, he is already defeated. God is infinitely more powerful than the devil, so Brent isn’t wrong to exaggerate the odds against the devil beyond the two-thirds of the angels. If anything, it is truly much more than that, but it does make the point that the devil doesn't stand a chance.

“You started something that you just couldn't stop, You turned the ones that you love into the angriest mob. And their one last wish is that you pay for it and there's no way you're getting out of this!” When the devil fell, he took some angels with him and they turned into any angry mob of demons. He will pay for it at Judgment Day and there’s nothing that’s going to stop that and nothing he can do about it.

“You’ve got the world on its knees, you’re taking all that you please” The devil’s domain is Earth and he is causing a lot of destruction and evil down here.

“You want more, but you’ll get nothing from me” The devil knows he’s going down and wants to take as many people with him as he can, but he’s not getting Brent and Brent is not going to give the devil anything that he wants.

“You’re like the burden we bear, you’re all the hate that we share” The devil is hate and brings with him a burden of sin.

“You want more, but you’ll get nothing from me, but enemies!” The devil wants to destroy everyone that he can, but not only is Brent not going to give in to him personally, but Brent is going to help put people back together, to bring more people to the light, to goodness, to love, to God, which in turn creates more enemies for the Devil. Badass!

I have felt the presence of God at Shinedown concerts stronger than I have at most churches. If you don’t know what that is like, I hope that someday you do. I’m not forcing anything on anyone as I hate it when people do that; it's annoying and heavy-handed. I’m just being honest with how I read this and it seems pretty clear to me.

Shinedown is an awesome band and deserves all the success they have achieved. They truly are a force for good and have helped so many people who have been “beat up by the falling of the arrows” whose “bones are shattered” to “get up” and get a “second chance” to show the world how they loved.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
