"Pretender" as written by Christian Karlsson, Pontus Johan Winnberg and Andrew Wyatt Blakemore....
I didn't wanna wake up
But then I felt your touch
Now I notice that I drink too much
And the turning of the universe oh

Spent the morning as a pretender
Will this be the age of surrender
The falling dark it lines
The walls let ours combine

I didn't wanna wake up
But then I felt your touch
Now I notice that I drink too much
And the turning of the universe oh

And the children lie in their places
I can see the lines in their faces
The falling dark it lines
The walls let ours combine

I didn't wanna wake up
But then I felt your touch
Now I notice that I drink too much
And the turning of the universe oh

My InterpretationWhen I look at these lyrics, I think of Barney Stinson.

He just had a (Adjective) night, but he doesn’t feel the same way other women made him. Somehow he felt something. (“I didn't wanna wake up But then I felt your touch”) I don’t think drink as in action, but in effect. His feelings were false, clouded by a toxin. Now he is starting to feel. (“Now I notice that I drink too much And the turning of the universe oh”) He pretended to have feelings, but he didn't know those feelings would be real and they are serious. Will he surrender to these feelings and be human? (“Spent the morning as a pretender Will this be the age of surrender The falling dark it lines The walls let ours combine”) Now he has to decide what he is going to do with his life after a quick wake-up slap.

My InterpretationIt seems like the song's about a guy who's met a woman that's changing him. Because of her, he wants to become better, change his bad habits ("I didn't want to wake up until I felt your touch, now I notice that I drink too much"). For a while, he'd been in a dark place, pretending to be fine when he wasn't ("Spent the morning as a pretender"). But she changed his whole world ("And the turning of the universe oh") and made him realize that he's not okay, but that's okay 'cause he has her ("Will this be the age of surrender? The falling dark it lines the walls, let ours combine").
