I guess it's funnier from where you're standing
'Cause from over here I miss the joke
Clear the way for my crash landing
I've done it again
Another number for your notes

I'd be smiling if I wasn't so desperate
I'd be patient if I had the time
I could stop and answer all of your questions
As soon as I find out
How I can move from the back of the line

I'll be your clown
Behind the glass
Go 'head and laugh
'Cause it's funny
I would too if I saw me
I'll be your clown
On your favorite channel
My life's a circus, circus
Round in circle
I'm selling out tonight

I'd be less angry if it was my decision
And the money was just rolling in
If I had more than my ambition
I'll have time for please
I'll have time for thank you
As soon as I win

I'll be your clown
Behind the glass
Go 'head and laugh
'Cause it's funny
I would too if I saw me
I'll be your clown
On your favorite channel
My life's a circus, circus
Round in circus
I'm selling out tonight

From a distance my choice is simple
From a distance I can entertain
So you can see me
I put makeup on my face
But there's no way you can feel it
From so far away

I'll be your clown
Behind the glass
Go 'head and laugh
'Cause it's funny
I would too if I saw me
I'll be your clown
On your favorite channel
My life's a circus, circus
Round in circles
I'm selling out tonight

    Song Meaning

This song speaks about a self-acceptance of the journey of life. In recognizing the sad nature of things, rather than choosing to give in to defeat there is a choice to make life a lighter meaning.

emeli sande said that this song is about how hard it is to get into the music industry. She said it is about dreaming about something so much and wanting something so badly that you are willing to be a clown and have everyone laugh at you for chasing your dream and say "I told you so" or "oh right so you think your gona be a singer?"

    Song Meaning

I think this song has more than one meaning. Yes, we as the audience are watching her from behind the glass i.e. the TV and expecting to be entertained but she is also speaking to someone special in her life who is only viewing her from a distance. He is too far away to be able to feel her or be with her. He also knows more about her, about her weaknesses and laughs at her inadequacies but she just doesn't join in on the joke. She is struggling to keep herself together trying to make it now on her own. She has resigned herself to the fact that this is what she will be to him, a clown behind the glass.

I disagree, obviously, about the song having just one meaning. I believe it's a song that was written as a type of guilt trip...to attempt to make the listener feel guilty for whatever s/he has supposedly done (when in actuality it's mere deflection).

The singer may or may not be simply adorable, but guilt trips don't work. And the smallest violin refuses to play today...

    Song Meaning

"It's about how I felt when I was trying to get signed, I was going for all these meetings and people were looking at me like 'What do we do with you'? It's about not allowing yourself to be judged by others or to be taken for an idiot. I feel the video reflects that" Emeli Sande 2012.

    My Interpretation

I think the songs describes relationship, where she is so disappointed and he is making her to look and act like a clown before everyone, he is lying to her and that is what makes her pissed of , and she knows that in his eyes she looks funny but the love for that man makes her look like that.

    My Interpretation

Umm...I guess she's saying that she doesn't want to sing anymore and the industry people are only giving her one option; sing or go out of business. "i'd be less angry if it was my decision" Also, I think she's struggling somewhat. "Clear the way for my crash landing" and "As soon as I win" Finally, she's saying that when she sings, she is a clown, messing up and she would laugh if she were watching. The fact that it is "behind the glass" is saying that just, sort of, doing it-singing-and has no connection with the people in the audience. And she has to put on a clown's mask and put away all of the emotions she's feeling and just sing.

Emeli might have had her own reasons for choosing these Lyrics but I can identify to this song completely. I'm going through a tough divorce at the moment. My ex has manipulated all documents and I've been forced to sign a settlement that is nothing but a joke. The law seems to be on my ex's side and my solicitor is advising me to sign before things get worse for me. My ex, his family, advisers and colleagues are laughing at the situation whilst I feel cheated and vulnerable. As a clown, I am selling out tonight.

    Song Meaning

Emeli said that she based this one on Jeremy Kyle, and how people would put themselves out there on tv, knowing that people would laugh at them, but they would still do it because they were that desperate.

If you picture this being sung from the perspective of a guest on Jeremy Kyle then it makes a whole lot more sense.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
