Am I the latest,
In your art of war?
Thought your hands could heal,
But they left me so.

You're so good, at what you think you do to me.
You're so good, at what you think you do to me.

There are songs, I'll never write,
Because of you, walking out of my life.
There are words, that don't belong,
Because of you, I'll never write another love song.

Was I the greatest, in your arsenal?
Or just the latest,
In your art of war?
Your art of war.

You're no good, at what you said you'd do to me.
You're no good, at what you said you'd do to me.

There are songs, (there are songs) I'll never write,
Because of you, walking out of my life.
There are words, (there are words) that don't belong, (ooh, ooh)
Because of you, I'll never write another love song.
(Never write another love song.)

There are songs, (there are songs) I'll never write,
Because of you, walking out of my life.
There are words, (there are words) that don't belong, (ooh, ooh)
Because of you, I'll never write another love song.
(Never write another love song.)

There are songs, I'll never write,
Because of you, walking out of my life.
There are words, that don't belong,
Because of you, I'll never write another love song.
Write another love song.

"Because of you I'll never write another love song" somehow I doubt that. But as I thought about it the phrase could be read 2 ways. The way I doubt is that Steven will literally never write another love song but if you read it a little different like "I'll never write another love song BECAUSE of you" it works. Very creative lyric filled with dispair and hope at the same time. He'll write more love songs, but none because/due to/about her. I like it!

    Song Meaning

This song is heartbreaking but redeeming in the same sense- it's haunting all the while. Anyhow this is written as a person who is still in a relationship with someone who actively knows that he's the one being used. But passively accepting it, "The Art of War" the way I see it is things that she can use against him or things to make her stonger, but him saying "Was I the greatest" is almost like he's fully accepting it.

In my honest perspective, this song is so damn heart-wrenching as I said but only because I think of it as the idealist's acceptance to reality- because he built up so many aspirations about her like how he wrote songs that compared this to her, and how it just doesn't belong because it's reality and it's what he now accepts.

This song is almost like a man vs man vs self kind of song in a way...think about it

I love how pretty much all of their songs have a lot of meaning and I can relate, but this has by far topped them all. This song describes the ugly truth to so many relationships in life, and facing that reality. It's like she told him she would help him and be there for him when he's broken and vulnerable, then as soon as she got him wrapped around her finger, did the very opposite. If you've ever been in that situation, you know if you're the broken one how devastating that can be...

    Song Meaning

"Relationships are tough, all of them; friendships, marriage, significant others, etc. They will always be tough, we are all imperfect humans on a never ending quest for love.

When one person in the relationship starts to play games, or get ahead of the other through guilt trips or any other number of mind games then the relationship will cease to progress. It is frustrating when people try to gain the upper hand, instead we should try humility and hold fast to unconditional love.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

The Book by Sun Tzu is an absolute must read (Art of War)

Your Arsenal is a Morrissey record." - Stephen Christian anberlinlyrics.tumblr.com June 2014

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
