"Under Heavens Skies" as written by and Ed Roland....
Whenever I taste honey from your lips
It's a moment of purpose only you can give
Whatever I hear whatever I may see
Whatever my cause, dear, I know you'll believe

Cause you're beautiful my love when I close my eyes
Yeah you're beautiful my love under heaven's skies

If ever you think careless is the night
I'll comfort you with silence till the morning light
Wherever you turn, wherever you may roam
Whatever you conquer, I'll always be your home

General CommentMy Fiance and I have chosen this song for our first dance at our wedding in May.

The song is moste definitely NOT about anything sexual. Rather, it is about the deepest love that someone can have for another. I don't think anyone can truly understand the true meaning of this song unless they have felt that kind of love for someone.

General CommentI concur, sylvie. The phrase, "You're beautiful my love" is repeated as it is in the Song of Solomon, chapter 4. Ed Roland has a strong church background, so it is little surprise. I got into Collective Soul because of their rock tunes, but I think their ballads are stronger. Amazing love song.

General CommentBasically it's a song about no matter what either of them do, they'll still love each other. Like, no matter what he sees or hears, she'll always believe him, and no matter "whatever she conquers" (like, having sex with other people), he'll always be her home (she can always go back to him). Then, in the chorus he sings, "You're beautiful my love when I close my eyes".. so she's beautiful when he metaphorically "closes his eyes" by ignoring the imperfect aspects of their relationship (i.e. her cheating on him). Not sure what the "under heaven's skies" part means, though. Anyway, I love this song, it's really beautiful.

General CommentAgree with TTTR. Maybe "under heaven's skies" makes reference to the fact that he worships her as like religiously. At any rate, who wouldn't want someone to write a song like this for you?

General CommentWow don't alot of people think far too much about sex!!
This is actualy a love song and it's all about love, not lust.
Where did the reference "whatever she conquers" (like, having sex with other people), ever come from, maybe it's just the fact the guy will be there for her what ever she accomplished in her life.
'under heaven's skies'- under is the earth and above is heaven's skies.
