Sleep, stiff and motionless
Quiet loving bliss
Touch her skin and feel
See what death reveals
I need your life to heal
I lead your life to hell

I love her because she's dead
Cold dreams of love fill me head

Gone, your life I won't miss
Death gave you a kiss
Wet death on your lips
Green death inside your hips
Stiff passion, no breath
The passion of death

I love her because she's dead
Cold dreams of love fill my head

Searching for the ones you want to love
Finding then watching and choosing from above
Evil is not part of what I feel
Then you give in and fate is sealed
Your fate is sealed

I love her because she's dead

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
