[Verse One]
In my heart the sharpest pain
The darkest clouds up in my brain
Anger so immense and rage so deep
Each time he took one away from me
It's only now I see
They were angels too good to be
Here in this hell on earth and so he set them free
Only now I see, now I'm sure
I don't want no more brothers and sisters
Growing up in this cold world of war

[Chorus x2]
I ain't ready to die
But I ain't afraid to die
And go check my
Bro's and sisters on the other side

[Verse Two]
Everyday they still walk with me
Every night they still talk with me
They spirit deep in my soul
They oh so far but they closer than close
It's only now I see there's no more tears to shed
I done some crazy shit to ease all the mad confusion
And numbness in my head
Only now I see it's alright
Good hearts don't die
They just fly to be in peace
Beyond the sky

[Chorus x2]

[Breakdown]
Where there's no evil and no greed
No sign of war cause everybody's free
Where only joyful tears are cried
There's no pain
No tears
No lies
He'll free your soul
Free your mind
When it's your time
Your time

[Chorus x2]

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Magical

How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
