Hey yo, Khadejia, Khadejia

I hope when you receive this letter
You're in good health
Keep your head up, baby
See you home in the year two thousand

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7

1 - What goes around
It comes back around again
It's the chance I take, I keep the faith
And hope one day you beat the case
And ay yah yah yah

I been around (Baby)
Singing background (Baby)
Please listen to my demo (Baby)
Now I got a deal
How does it feel (Baby)
When you don't know what is real (Baby)
All I have is thoughts of you (Baby)
Hoping that my dreams come true

2 - What goes up must come down
So we spread love all around
To the ghettos everywhere
Throw your hands up, boy
Cuz I'll always be right here

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7

3 - What goes around
It comes back around again
I've been around thugs
Around danced around
Time to shine
Yah, yah

Repeat 1
People will smile all in your face
Promise you the world just to get inside
I can't deny sometimes I fell for the hype
Then I opened up my eyes, I saw demons in disguise

Repeat 2
Repeat 3
Repeat 1

Yo, yo, now they got my boo, bust a federal blue
Slip on shoes in the hole for breakin' house rules
Payin' street dues, doin' time for his block
While I'm sellin' his insurance, crack Plymouth Rock
So when the gun blow, we find new gun hole
Willie hiding in the weeping willow from my shadow, Billy
Tryin' a rubber Khadejia free, in Japan it Lucia vest might be
But your head ain't bulletproof

They can't hold you down no more, no more
They can't hold me down no more, no more
(Put your lighters in the air)
They can't hold you down no more, no more
They can't hold me down no more, no more

Where you from, where you from
Where you from, where you from
Brooklyn, Brooklyn, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7

Repeat 3 & 1...

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

When We Were Young
Blink-182
This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
