"The Best I Can Do" as written by and Jackson....
I'll try to protect you
If I don't get too scared
I'll never neglect you
If my feelings are shared
I'll be right behind you
If you don't move too fast
And I'll try to remind you
That some things can last
I'll love you forever
Or at least many years
If you know I'll never
Take away all your fears
And I'll never roam
Not unless I have to
But I'll always come home
That's the best I can do
It's the best I can do

Song MeaningAnother Heart rending song from Joe's answer to Sargent Pepper.......The music is sublime and the lyrics illustrate the frailty of emotions and confusion if your truly torn between true love or care and compassion for a women. Joe Jackson writes such quality love songs.
