In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
I can't believe it, you're a dream coming true
I can't believe how I have fallen for you
And I was not looking, was content to remain
And it's ironic to be back in the game
You are the one who's led me to the sun
How could I know that I was lost without you
And I want to tell you, you control my rain
And you should know that you are life in my veins
You are the one who's led me to the sun
How could I know, I was lost without you
Oh, I can't believe it, you're a dream coming true
Oh, I can't believe how I have fallen for you
And I was not looking, was content to remain
And it's erotic to be back in the game
Oh, oh, oh, you're a dream coming true
Oh, my, my, my, I have fallen for you
Ha, ah, ah, you're a dream coming true
Oh, my, my, my, I have fallen for you
Ah, Ah, oh, oh, oh, yeah, you're a dream coming true
Oh, my, my, my, I have fallen for you
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, yeah, you're a dream, you're a dream come true

Fast Car

"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him.
There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
It's finding complete happiness and a new meaning to love after giving up on it. That feeling of awe when u were certain that you'll never open up your heart for love again and there you find yourself loving being in love...again...
