"Let's Have Another Cup of Coffee I Say It's Spinach" as written by and Irving Berlin....
Just around the corner,
There?s a rainbow in the sky.
So let?s have another cup of coffee
And let?s have another piece o? pie!
Trouble?s just a bubble,
And the clouds will soon roll by?
So let?s have another cup of coffee
And let?s have another piece o? pie!
Let a smile be your umbrella,
For it?s just an April show?r.
Even John D. Rockefeller
Is looking for a silver lining.
Mister Herbert Hoover
says that now?s the time to buy.
So let?s have another cup of coffee
And let?s have another piece o? pie!

We must keep smiling and play the game
While life keeps hurrying on
For there was trouble before we came
'Twill be here after we're gone
So we'll just have to prepare
To snap our fingers at care

Long as there's you, long as there's me
Long as the best things in life are free
I say it's spinach and the hell with it
The hell with it, that's all!

Long as I'm yours, long as your mine
Long as there's love and a moon to shine
I say it's spinach and the hell with it
The hell with it, that's all!

There must be rain to pitter-patter
Things don't come on a silver platter
What does it matter?

Long as there's you, long as there's me
Long as the best things in life are free
I say it's spinach and the hell with it
The hell with it, that's all

My InterpretationI believe this song is about making the best of any situation even in the midst of a war. It is an optimistic song suggesting that we as a nation will persevere. But that's not just it. It may have undertones of love-making while it's raining (so to speak). The point is... things will get brighter, so in the meantime, do what you ordinarily would do, be it a a cup of coffee and a slice of pie or time spent with a lover. ;)
