I fell and slipped in a pool of spit
that my parents spat out on the day they split
Fell clumsily through twigs and trees
into a pile of dudes who were as screwed as me

Well guess what.. you showed up
with a cape, and a dress, to dress my cuts
Nice to meet yah.. I'm cliche
I have this baggage but can you save me

Can you save me
cause I don't want to end up like they are
Can you save me
cause I don't want to get stuck like they are
Can you save me
cause I don't want to give it up like they are
Can you save me
Can you save me

Disfigured fiends with sadistic schemes
have got it out for the woman of my dreams
I'm a helpless mess, damsel in distress
caught staring at the symbol on her chest

You chose me out of these
sea of klutzes come triple amputees
Unworthy of all your time
while I dance here amongst the landmines

Can you save me
cause I don't want to end up like they are
Can you save me
cause I don't want to get stuck like they are
Can you save me
cause I don't want to give it up like they are
Can you save me
Can you save me

Cause I wanted you do you want me too
Cause I notice you, do you notice anything I do
Cause I wanted you do you want me too
Cause I notice you, cause I notice you
Cause I wanted you do you want me too
Cause I notice you, do you notice anything I do
Cause I wanted you do you want me too
Cause I notice you, cause I notice you

Can you save me
cause I don't want to end up like they are
Can you save me
cause I don't want to get stuck like they are
Can you save me
really don't wanna give it up like they are
Can you save me
Can you save me

I do understand it's a bit hard to understand Max's lyrical "jew"-jitsu, but I believe there are a few things you may have misheard, or possibly I am. What I have intrepreted as the lyrics are as follows:

I fell and slipped in a pool of spit that my parents spat out on the day they split Fell clumsily through twigs and trees into a pile of dudes who were as screwed as me Well guess what, you showed up, with your cape and dressed to dress my cuts Nice to meet you, I'm cliche, yeah, I have this baggage but can you save me

Can you save me, cause I don't wanna end up like they are Can you save me, cause I don't wanna get stuck like they are Can you save me, cause I don't wanna give it up like they are Can you save me, can you save me Can you save me, can you save me

Disfigured things with sadistic schemes have got it out for the woman of my dreams I'm a helpless mess, damsel in distress, caught staring at the symbol on her chest You chose me out of this, sea of klutzes, come triple amputees Unworthy of all your time While I dance here among the land mines

Can you save me, cause I don't wanna end up like they are Can you save me, cause I don't wanna get stuck like they are Can you save me, cause I don't wanna give it up like they are Can you save me, can you save me? Can you save me, can you save me?

Cause I wanted you, do you want me too? Cause I notice you, do you notice anything I do? Cause I wanted you, do you want me too? Cause I notice you, cause I notice you Cause I wanted you, do you want me too? Cause I notice you, do you notice anything I do? Cause I wanted you, do you want me too? Cause I notice you, cause I notice you

Can you save me, cause I don't wanna end up like they are Can you save me, cause I don't wanna get stuck like they are Can you save me, really don't wanna give it up like they are Can you save me, can you save me? Can you save me, can you save me?

I think its fair to say this is another song about his "rescue" from the drugs/dark places he once was. How is wife brought him back, so to speak. I love the line "whilst I dance here amongst the land mines" great imagery imo which sums up his hap-hazard state of mind and health at that time. I always find Max has a great way of portraying his story through his lyrics, he manages to say so much to listeners in a single line.

one of the more powerful songs on Anarchy. last chorus gives me chills.

if it's not about Sherri saving Max from his shitty bi-polar drug addicted lifestyle, i'm not sure what it's about.

this song makes me so happy for where Max and Say Anything are headed.

i've put asterisks where SchizoTeeJay was wrong. the following lyrics are straight from sayanythingmusic.com/lyrics

"I fell and slipped in a pool of spit That my parents spat out on the day they split. Fell clumsily through twigs and trees Into a pile of dudes who were as screwed as me. Well, guess what? You showed up With A CAPE AND A DRESS to dress my cuts. Nice to MEETCHA, I’m cliché! I have this baggage but can you save me?

Can you save me? ‘Cuz I don’t want to end up like they are. I don’t want to get stuck like they are. I don’t want to give it up like they are. Can you save me?

Disfigured FIENDS with sadistic schemes Have got it out for the woman of my dreams. I’m a helpless mess. Damsel in distress Caught staring at the symbol on her chest. You chose me out of THESE Sea of klutzes-CUM-triple-amputees. Unworthy of all your time While I dance here AMONGST the landmines

‘Cuz I wanted you. Do you want me too? ‘Cuz I notice you. Do you notice anything I do?

    Can you save me tonight?"

    My Interpretation

At the beginning of the song Max says:

"I fell and slipped in a pool of spit that my parents spat out on the day they split"

Which obviously means that his parents split. Throughout the song he sings:

"Can you save me, cause I don't wanna end up like they are Can you save me, cause I don't wanna get stuck like they are Can you save me, cause I don't wanna give it up like they are"

I feel like him and his wife are going through problems and he doesn't want to "end up like they are" "They" meaning his parents.

And also because of Max's bi-polar disorder and his experiences with drugs, his wife is trying to save that.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
