"I For You" as written by and Nick Wheeler Tyson Ritter....
Say the words I cannot say
Say them on another day
Fragile words like these will cut your tongue
Was I good enough?
Was I bad enough?
When I wanted more, yeah, you had enough

But nobody's gonna try for you
Nobody's gonna do like I for you

And every slow-lit cigarette that nervous hands can barely get the courage
I could always feel your eyes
And those dresses you made look like gowns
You're a sinner but the devil even turned you down

'Cause nobody's gonna try for you
Nobody's gonna do like I for you
And nobody's gonna try for you
And nobody's gonna lie for you
And nobody's gonna do like I for you

Hold me like you never could
I'll hold you like I said I would
Air or light won't breathe nor shine between
With your feather lips, yeah you fly away
Well I hope they come back down someday

'Cause nobody's gonna try for you
Nobody's gonna do like I for you
Somebody's getting by for you
I don't bend, I just break in two
Somebody like me I'd die for you

My InterpretationI think this song is secretly about Jesus.

Everyone is always very cautious when talking about religion because no one wants to come off as a "bible thumper," but as Christians we are encouraged to speak out about the word. Even Jesus himself, who lived a perfect life and had did no wrong to anyone was persecuted because of his faith.
Say the words I cannot say
    Say them on another day
Fragile words like these will cut your tongue

It seems like some people refuse to believe in God because they feel he is either too good to be true or they feel he is unjust. God wants us to live to our full potential, but even the best of Christians fall short sometimes and then they become discouraged, so they turn their back on God, simply because it is hard for them.
    Was I good enough?
    Was I bad enough?
When I wanted more, yeah, you had enough

God's love is so perfect and unconditional and we are undeserving. Human beings simply cannot give what God has so selflessly given away, which is grace. Even your best friends in life will let you down at one point or another. You simply cannot rely on human beings, which is the hardest thing for me to learn growing up.
But nobody's gonna try for you
Nobody's gonna do like I for you

God encourages us to do our best in life.
And those dresses you made look like gowns

You're a sinner but the devil even turned you down
'Cause nobody's gonna try for you
Nobody's gonna do like I for you
To me, these lyrics should go together. It is written in Romans 8: Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,k neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Of course you could never physically hold Jesus, but he is in our hearts
Hold me like you never could
Going back to the verse from Romans 8, God promises to hold us tight
I'll hold you like I said I would
Air or light won't breathe nor shine between

When we use our words to speak against God, we turn our back on him, but he still hopes we come back to him.
With your feather lips, yeah you fly away
Well I hope they come back down someday

'Cause nobody's gonna try for you
Nobody's gonna do like I for you
Somebody like me, I'd die for you
To me, these lyrics go together, too. I think these are talking about the cross and how Jesus has died for our sins.

    Somebody's getting by for you
I don't bend, I just break in two
I think this is referencing that Jesus himself has witnessed, in his time on earth, how hard the path to righteousness can be, and how easy it is to just give up, but we have to hold on and keep ourselves together for the sake of those on earth who love us, like our family members and our friends. Even though we can't love each other perfectly, I know they'd be devastated if you didn't try to take care of yourself.
