I wanna come over
I wanna come over
And tear this place apart, with you
In the arms of another
A two hearted spider
I'm just a mess for you

Oh my naivety
Oh my fickled views
I feel my blood boil
I saw shadows fuse

Every move you make
Breaks me, breaks me
Every smile you fake
Breaks me, breaks me
Owah

Lets build ourselves an island
I want it now
If they build a prison
I'll Knock it down

Oh my naivety
Oh my fickled views
I feel my blood boil
I saw shadows fuse

Every move you make
Breaks me, breaks me, now
Every smile you fake
Breaks me, breaks me

I saw our shadows dance before the dawn
I saw our shadows dance before the dawn
I saw our shadows dance before the dawn
I saw our shadows dance
I saw our shadows dance

Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey

Every move you make
Breaks me, breaks me, now
Every smile you fake
Breaks me, breaks me
Owah, Owah, Owah, Owah

General CommentFor me the whole song is just a metahor for two lovers, once a couple, now drifting away from each other. Somehow the narrator isn´t ready to let her go, he still has love in his heart to give to her. But I don´t think of something like a relationship based sex, I just think it portraits the slow decay of a relationship the narrator wanted to last forever...

The ,,two-hearted spider" is the fusing shadows of the two lovers in the arms of each other. I guess this is also the best line to start the interpretation.
The spider has two hearts, that means there are two souls that differ in feelings, emotions and thoughts. Maybe the spider once was a one-hearted, when the relationship was faultless, but now the expectations of the two persons differ too much, one of the hearts wants to be alone again, without the other one.

The narrator still wants to ,,come over and tear this place apart" like they used to do, but he knows these times are over. With the loss of this wild and fervid chapter in their lives when he ,,saw their shadows dance" the other person has lost the interest in the narrator, regarding him now as just ,,a mess".

The narrator knew that one day this relationship would end this way, but he doesnt want to let the other one go, even though it´s too late.,,Oh my naivety
Oh my fickled views" describes his high expectations pretty good since it also shows a part of him always knew it was no good to keep this relationship going and it would just end in a painful breakup.
,,I saw our shadows fuse before the dawn" also backs this up. He was in love with the other person and the other one loved him ,too, they were the one-hearted spider. He knew it was just his naivety, regardless of this he always hoped on a happy end.
But the dawn is always the beginning of something new and it also blurs their shadows, their symbol of being together. He knows that he cant hold the other one, its time to let go, the ,,dawn" has begun.

But like I said in the beginning, he`s unable to cut their bond once and for all since he still ,,feel[s] his blood boil"everytime they meet, what should be a symbol for his love and passion towards the other one.
And because of this it tears him up inside, it literally ,,Breaks him" that he feels that the other one just fakes the smiles and is moving further away from him till there won´t be a ,,spider of love" anymore, till their shadows won´t fuse again.

My InterpretationAll right, I'll have a swing at it.
Apologies in advance for any misspellings / grammar errors, English is not my native language.

First of all, I hear Tom saying "in the arms of a _lover_" instead of "another".

For me the song portraits someone who just wants to love the sh*t out of his significant other in a very explicit way, the two-hearted spider being a metaphor for two people making sweet love (2x four limbs = 8 spider legs.

The "naivety and fickle views" line makes me thing about inexperience and expectations he (I'll use he/she from now on for simplicity's sake) might had regarding how well he thought he would handle his feelings. But he feels his blood boil, meaning that he is loosing control over himself, he "saw shadows fuse" - he imagined them closing in on each other (alternatively, it could be him realising he screwed his chances with her very badly and is now cursing himself for his immaturity.

"Every move you make breaks me / Every smile you fake breaks me" - Seems to give away that the other person doesn't seem to love him as much and he notices it from the way she behaves when they meet.

"Build ourselves an island" is code for isolation with her, leaving everything else behind. And it has to be right away "I want it now" - a (perhaps) misplaced sense of urgency I think many of us can relate to.
The prison part is tricky... either they live some kind forbidden love which would lead to them being cast away by others or perhaps it is a reference to restrictions imposed by life itself that could set them apart. In any case he feels confident he can overcome it, "knock it down".
"I saw our shadows dance before the dawn" - again, the idea of imagining them together that night.

Anyway, fantastic song. Looking forward for the new album.

General CommentI also hear 'in the arms of a lover" and also "I feel my blood boil as our shadows fuse" and he sings "me instead of hey".

To me this song is about someone who wanted a deep relationship with a girl who is like a black widow (or two faced/hearted). She just devours him. When he goes to her, he is like a mess (meaning he is in love and she isn't, she uses him just for the physical part of the relationship) thus him saying he was naive to think they could've had something more and when he is with her his view changes (he want to end things but he isn't strong enough to do so when he is in her presence.)

He sees their shadows dance (they get physical) and i also hear "door" instead of "dawn" emphasising that he feels trapped with her. It makes him mad that he can't resist her. Everything she does breaks him. His composure, his soul maybe (in knowing she isn't feeling the same) his heart.

I really love all editors's songs. Tom seems like a real deep thinker. Love that their songs aren't about the soppy superficial stuff most artists sing about.

They aren't a "dark" band imo, they are a "deep" one :)
