"Parallax" as written by and Bradford Cox....
He gave me pain
Gave me bruises
After the first time
The muscle loosens

Your pain is probably equal

He gave me love
Gave me promises
He'd never go away
Never as for help

Your pain is probably equal

General CommentAnyone else think this song could be about anal sex? "After the first time / The muscle loosens"...

My InterpretationI think the last line is "Never ask for help".

Although the anal sex thing does seem reasonable considering the "muscle loosens" line, I think the song is about an abusive relationship.

The speaker is the victim in an abusive relationship, and tells themselves that no matter what their partner does to them, the partner probably feels the same pain. It's a rationalization to stay in that relationship.

The abuser gives the speaker love, and thus the speaker chooses to stay and "never ask for help". But the love they are given is also accompanied by pain.
