You fuckin' douche-bag!

I don't have to be a hero
I can just walk these streets
Wait around for a drive-by wake-up call
I don't have to go work just to get the job complete
That kind of work always makes me feel so small

It's your concern, it's my concern
You tell me that you love me, but love is such a funny word!

I could hitch a ride to Phoenix or up to Ontario
There'll always be a stranger with a light for my smoke
I could dream about the big time
I could play the lottery
Make my first million from a gas station scratch-off machine

It's your concern, it's my concern
You ask me if I love you
Don't ask a question, with such a funny word!
It's really funny, funny!

You let me sleep all morning
You let me share your bed
And you say that I need to make a few new friends
Love works both ways, you tell me every day
But love is such a funny word,
Oh baby, love is such a funny word
I tell you that love is such a funny word
I tell you that love is such a funny word
I tell you that love is such a funny word
I tell you that love is such a funny word
Funny, funny!

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
