Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh

Mum and Dad, I met a girl
And she's got great teeth and she's marrying me
And she's a great cook
And she's about to finish writing her fifth book
Mum and dad, she paints as well
She wrote her own theory of relativity
It's better than Einstein's, oh and she's all mine
Mum and dad, I love her more
Than I've ever loved anything
And you should hear her sing, she's got a record deal
And if she leaves me I won't heal
Mum and dad, she found a way
To put an end to global warming
During our breakfast just this morning
She's getting a Nobel Prize
She's the best damn woman alive

And she doesn't mind the oh, oh, oh, she doesn't mind the
She doesn't mind the oh, oh, oh, she doesn't mind the
She says she doesn't mind the oh, oh, oh, she doesn't mind the
She doesn't mind the oh, oh, oh, she doesn't mind the
She doesn't mind the oh, oh, oh, she doesn't mind the

Mum and dad, I met a girl
She says she's gunna be my wife and complete my life
She's got a science degree
We fell in love at university
Mum and dad, this one's got brains
And she's so damn smart, knows Shakespeare off by heart
Her dad's a doctor
So glad I got her
Mum and dad, she's an active member of Greenpeace
She's from an educated home
And she plays the trombone
Makes my heart tingle
And she's trilingual
Mum and dad, she's curing cancer
And you can meet next week
She's coming down to make a speech on stem cells
I think the wedding is gunna go well

And she doesn't mind the oh, oh, oh, she doesn't mind the
She doesn't mind the oh, oh, oh, she doesn't mind the
She says she doesn't mind the oh, oh, oh, she doesn't mind the
She doesn't mind the oh, oh, oh, she doesn't mind the
She doesn't mind the oh, oh, oh, she doesn't mind the

And she doesn't mind the ooh (oh, oh), no she doesn't mind the
She says she doesn't mind the oh, oh, oh, no she doesn't mind
In fact she kinda prefers the oh, oh, oh, no she doesn't mind the
She says she really likes the oh, (ohoh) oh, (ohoh) oh (ohoh)
And she doesn't mind the oh, oh, oh, she doesn't mind the
She says she doesn't mind the-uh-uh-uh, she doesn't mind
She says she doesn't mind the oh, oh, oh, she doesn't mind the
She says she doesn't mind the oh, oh, oh, no she doesn't mind

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
