"Blood Pressure" as written by Darren King, Paul Meany and Roy Mitchell....
Why can't you, be more like your older brother
Why can't you, ooh (blood pressure)
Why can't you, do a little more for Jesus
Why can't you, (blood pressure) ooh
Ah ah

Blood pressure
Do better
Keep rising
Blood pressure

You're on the road, on a road that's bound for nowhere
Why don't you do what you're told? Blood pressure

Don't worry I will help you out on one condition
Be more, do more, check your blood pressure

Ah ah

Blood pressure
Do better
Keep rising
Blood pressure

Ah ah
Oh

Blood pressure
Do better
Keep rising
Blood pressure

Blood pressure
Won't matter
Keep rising
Blood pressure

Blood pressure

My InterpretationGreat song. To me, I think it's about someone constantly telling another person (sounds like a mother-child relationship), that they need to to this and do that in order to be better. They compare them to another person, and keep nagging them about doing all these things. The pressure builds and builds, hence the name 'Blood Pressure'.

General CommentYeah I agree with "ilovenutella", this is about literal pressure from a blood related family member.

"Why can't you do a little more for Jesus?"
"Why don't you do what you're told?"
"I'll help you out under one condition."

    Creative writing. Love this song.

General CommentLike the other posts I agree. The only addition is that the pressure is blood, or in other words the pressure is coming from a family member. He feels pressure from his parents to be like his brother-all blood relationships and sometimes the hardest relationships to reconcile when sibling rivalry is part of the equation. To be really analytical though I am curious why the writer focuses on two things--to be better--to do a little more for Jesus.
I wonder if the writer thinks he can please his parents by "doing a little more for Jesus even though that will mean nothing to Jesus since he does believe in Him. What is apparent here is the writer's confusion and frustration. His parents dearly want him to find God and be saved. His parents want him to whole-heartedly love God and do more for HIm because their son loves God. But like every single one of us......we have all "gone astray" and don't really love God...at least not the God who calls Himself Jesus Christ. This pressure the writer is dealing with is on all of us to reconcile with God...and since He is our Father it is indeed blood pressure.

General CommentIt sounds like the story of the Prodigal Son from the bible. In that case it would be a comparison of the younger son to the older son. In the story the younger son demands his father's inheritance early on and goes and squanders all of the money on whores and crap. And meanwhile, the older son is doing everything "right" and working for his Father and being the "good" son.
