Babe just say you miss me,
Is it that hard

Too long since I've heard about our love
Am I in this by myself
With rose coloured lenses on my store-bought frames
To see something other than these blues and grays
I need something different, hey hey yeah
Cause you ain't feelin' the same

And who knows,
Maybe I'm crazy
That's one big maybe
But even a fool knows when it's gold

I know pyrite from 24 karat
Cubics from genuine diamond
A call from the woman who loves you
Hello from a friend
I know when it's real
I know how to tell
I know the difference between what you say and how you feel
I know when it's real

I can tell the difference every time that you call
But I don't need a drink I need some time in my car
Time to drive and think
Time to park and cry
You should've known you were beautiful
You should've known what I saw in you
Please forgive me for feeling like it's all your fault
My heavy heart can't carry blame for the loss

And who knows maybe I'm crazy
That's one big maybe
But even a fool knows when it's gold

I know pyrite from 24 karat
Cubics from genuine diamond
A call from the woman who loves you
Hello from a friend
I know when it's real
I know how to tell
I know the difference between what you say and how you feel
I know when it's real

You might not notice but I'm a man with pride
And this hurts me baby deep down, deep down
I can't let go of this gotta know I tried
It's pathetic baby don't lie, don't lie
I'm a candle, you're the sun
And you're burning baby burning baby
Burning up burning up
Burning up burning up

Song MeaningI can relate to this.

I feel like this is Frank's version of Slow Dancing in a Burning Room by John Mayer.

Frank loves a woman. Whether or not they are currently in an actual relationship is up for argument. Regardless, he is noticing that the feelings of love between the two are becoming less mutual - "Am I in this by myself?" This, of course, saddens him and is something he would rather not accept. He tells himself "maybe I'm crazy" but he justifies his feelings by noting that even a fool can tell the difference between pyrite and real gold.

He slowly becomes more certain of this feeling as he reflects on her actions and words, and it kills him inside. "I need some time ...[to] cry." By saying "my heavy heart can't carry blame for the loss," Frank is explaining how he had to tell himself she was to blame. To think that something he may or may not have done caused her not to love him is too much for his heart to take on top of that fact.

The last verse is Frank desperately asking the woman to love him again, even when he knows it is pathetic to do so. He's got loads of pride and can't stand to so vulnerably show himself, but he needs to know he tried everything he could to save the relationship, or he will regret it later on. He needs her - she is the enormous sun and he is a puny candle - but her entire mass is burning up before the wax of the little candle is. It's not fair and it doesn't make sense.
