(One, two, three, four)

And happy days
That left us on the floor
And you squeeze me
'Til you're not feeling sure

Everything will brighten up
If we go to Brighton
I'll take you along the Pier
Everything will lighten up
And if you feel too frightened
I'll make things disappear, dear

Darling, don't be nervous
I'll understand if you let me go
I did this on purpose
Now, 'cause when I'm missing you

I'll stop eating food
And I'll squeeze into a dress
So I can be like you
And then I'll see your bitterness
And why you're leaving too
Maybe, I'll put you to a test
And say that I love you
I think that I love you

And sunny days
That left my skin dark red
And you breathe me
'Til these thoughts leave my head

If it gets too complicated
I'll give up and be frustrated
Can you see what's wrong?
If you feel like you've been jaded and
This love's too overrated
See what's going on, mm

And darling, don't be nervous
I'll understand if you let me go
I did this on purpose
Now, 'cause when I'm missing you

I'll stop eating food
And I'll squeeze into a dress
So I can be like you
And then I'll see your bitterness
And why you're leaving too
Maybe, I'll put you to a test
And say that I love you
I think that I love you

Take me back to live at home
Take me back to Albert Road

'Cause when I'm missing you

I'll stop eating food
And I'll squeeze into your dress
So I can feel like you
And then I'll see your bitterness
And why you left me too
I thought I'd put you to a test
And say that I love you
I think that I love you

And I'll stop eating food
And I'll squeeze into your dress
So I can feel like you
And then I'll see your bitterness
And why you left me too
I thought I put you to a test
And say that I love you
Now it seems you loved me too

    My Interpretation

After seeing that no one has added a meaning, I decided to just add in my input. If you disagree with my interpretation of this song, no need to be rude about it :/ I'm just here share my thoughts and feelings with other people who love music...

"Happy days, that left us on the floor" Once I listened to the entire song, I feel that this could be about a girl with disorder. Mainly depression even when nothing has gone wrong. Throughout my interpretation you'll more understand why I say this...

"And you breathe, til you're not feeling sure"

Again, you'll more understand why I say this later on. The girl probably is slowly falling in love with him, but after her past she starts to feel unsure about being with him...

"Everything will brighten up, if we go to Brighton I'll take you along the pier. Everything will lighten up, if you feel too frightened I'll make it disappear"

She could be self - conscious about herself, and whenever she's in public with him she becomes even more scared of what people might say about her. And of course being the lovely person Ed is he's willing to take her away from her fear and make her feel safe :)

"Darling, don’t be nervous I’ll understand if you’ll let me go, I did this on purpose"

At times she's afraid of falling for him and just opening up & letting him into her life. And he is purposely doing all these things to let her know he really cares...

"Now, when I’m missing you I’ll stop eating food and I’ll squeeze into a dress. So I can be like you, and then I'll see your bitterness"

As I said, she could have a disorder: eating; depression; and ( I realized after The A Team and this song, Ed really knows how to make a musically upbeat version of a sad situation) and he'll do all these things so he can see exactly what she's going through in her mind...

"And why you’re leaving too. Maybe, I’ll put you to a test and say that I love you, I think that I love you"

He'll see why she's leaving. Not only because of what I noted before, but also for her maybe not feeling 'good enough' or deserving of him. And he'll 'put her to the test' by saying 'I love you' and how he feels to let her know the truth... I <3 Ed

"Sunny days, that left my skin dark red" At this point I feel he's talking in her point of view; still feeling uncertain of herself she probably resorted to cutting :(

"You squeeze me, til these thoughts leave my head" Him having her safe in his arms makes me think that the thoughts of hers harming herself disappear cause she feels cared about :)

"If it gets too complicated I’ll give up and be frustrated, can you see what’s wrong?" This song is entirely made of mixed emotions: she could be feeling misunderstood by him and have thoughts about going back her old ways...

"If you feel like you’ve been hated, this love’s too overrated, see what’s going on"

It's mostly self explanatory; she feels hated by people, that being in love with him isn't going to last and isn't worth the fight: 'see what's going on' meaning see the truth. She isn't hated and their love is really worth it in his eyes... Aw!

"Take me back to live at home, take me back to Albert Road"

Being such a sweetheart he'll take her back to places where she had happier memories :)

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
