I see the sun go down on the river
I feel the wind blow out, would’ve stayed to gray
I feel the air around you, it’s kinda closing in
Do you feel it fall, or do you feel at all, again

I see the world keep moving as I stumble
They seem to move much faster than me
And while I sit in my four cornered room dividing hearts for a little girl
Well I can’t be anything but who I am

And I wish you’d stay
That was the beginning of the two of us, the start of our show
Stay, stay, stay...
Now I would never have let go

And I see the sun go up as your image
And I feel the weight of your eyes as you stare
I feel it all when you, when you first, when you kissed my lips
You used to make me feel at home, you made me feel at home, you made me
feel again

Oh and that’s when you use to say, “Will you stay, and not let go?”
That was just the two of us to think about, the stars of our show
And you would say, “I wish you’d stay and I’d never go”
Oh I would never have let go!

So take this heart of mine
You’ve taken it a hundred thousand times
But this time, this time, I’m gonna take it with me

I see the door close down behind you
I watch your face turn from glow to straight gray
I see the moon go up and it shines this glory on my face
Who would know? Who would know? Who would know?

How we would stay, and we should stay and never let go, oh hell no
There’s just three of us to think about now, in our show, our show, our show
I think we’d stay, we’d just stay, and then we’d know
That we should never let go

Something to think about, her heart
Just look into those big brown eyes, and you’d just fall apart
We should stay, at least we’d stay, at least she’d know
That we should never let go
No, no, let go, go, oh...

I wish you’d stay
I wish you’d stay...

General CommentI guess this song is so straight forward that I didn't have anything to say about it except that it's so damn heart wrenching... I still cry every time I listen to it. Definitely my favorite song on this album.

General CommentYes, unfortunately this whole album is about the lead singer's, Justin Furstenfield, divorce and his custody battle for his daughter. On the front cover of the album is his daughter's artwork. It even has a picture of his daughter in the cd paperwork. Adorable girl. Surprisingly, this information is listed on ITunes.

As far as the song itself: it's unfortunate that someone has to go through this just to write a great song. It's very touching and heartbreaking. All words relating to his daughter are very strong. All you can say to them is wow! It just takes the words out from you. The music in the song was brilliantly done. I absolutely love the drum beat in this song. It's the drum beat that makes it so retro styled. The music itself is excellent.

I think Blue October is very artistic with their music and their videos. I haven't watched this video yet. But watching their past videos, they're pretty creative with them and their songs.

I wish Justin the best in his battle for his daughter. It such a shame how people don't take marriage seriously anymore. From listening to this song, it sounds as though he wanted to save his marriage for his daughters sake.

General CommentI watched the video to this song today on Youtube. Just him sitting there singing this song so no story line to follow. However, I saw one comment someone made about this song possiblt being about an ex he had and thier little daughter, I'm assuming this is personal to the singer. Im not too familiar with the band members of Blue October so Im not sure he was ever married and/or had a daughter. In reading the lyrics tho, it could totally be about that. Basically saying they shouldve stayed together, especially for thier daughters sake.

Most of the lyrics are your usual metaphors, see the sun go down on the river, etc.

    However the lyrics,

"Something to think about, her heart
Just look into those big brown eyes, and you'd just fall apart"

    and

"And while I sit in my four cornered room dividing hearts for a little girl"
seems to detail the fact that this indeed about a family and little girl
Also how he compares them to thier "show" tells me its about family.

If this is all true, a very sad song...
