Manic depressive!
Masochistic!
You don't move don't move unless you know someone you can move
And I bruise just like anyone would bruise
And I know we've got a long way to go
I know I've got so far

We built this house with our hands, and our time, and our blood
You build this up in one day to fall downward and rust
You built this house with your hands, and your time, and your blood
We built this up in one day to fall downward and rust

I'm gone
You tried to emphasize and side with both your ghosts
In time I swore I'd take the straight and narrow path but still won't
I hold his ear I'm only trying to do my job tonight
Kiss him on top his lips and crucify the fire

We built this house with our hands, and our time, and our blood
You built this up in one day to fall downward and rust
You built this house with your hands, and your time, and your blood
We built this up in one day to fall downward and...

Never really feel the same
never gonna be the same
no it's never gonna be the same
never gonna be the same

We built this house with our hands, and our time, and our blood
We built this up in one day to fall downward and rust
We built this house with our hands, and our time, and our blood
You built this up in one day to fall downward and rust

Trust in me the same way (with your time, your blood)
Holy or inane (To fall downward and)

Never really feel the same
Never gonna be the same
No, it's never gonna be the same
Never gonna be the same

Song MeaningThis song, to me, is about adultery. Likely about about Andy Hull and his wife. that's probably why he doesn't like talking about the song meanings on this album

    some lines that stood out:

"And I bruise just like anyone would bruise" = I'm human and i make mistakes

Chorus = the house they built is their relationship that fell after one (or both) parties cheated.

"In time I swore I'd take the straight and narrow path but still won't
I hold his ear I'm only trying to do my job tonight
Kiss him on top his lips and crucify the fire" = sounds like he cheated while on tour and is trying to stay faithful but its hard, but at the same time shes cheating on him while hes gone

    "Never really feel the same
never gonna be the same" = this ties in with the virgin title. the relationship was pure at first, but once they cheated once, the relationship will never be what it once was.

let me know if you agree/disagree. but I'm sure I'm right lol

great song... these guys are amazing, btw

General CommentIt's about America getting fked. Think about it. Virgin? They feed us all this stuff and force capitalism down our throats and "it's never gonna be the same".

Song MeaningIn an interview that you can find on their Youtube channel, Andy was asked if this song title related to their Album Im Like a Virgin Losing A Chils and he said very much so Yes.

Chris has also said in interviews that this is kind of a song to the fans. You can see that with the line "you built this house with your hands and your time and your blood"

In the interview on their Youtube Channel Andy talked about the song and said:
"The song is a lyrical story, it is talking about losing your virginity, losing your band's virginity, which means like you know releasing your first album and then everybody questioning you after it and questioning what you do compared to it. Its something to our fans, and theres also some relation to a child's innocence and a child losing faith as they enter adulthood.
Like with the never going to be the same line. Never going to be the same means the same thing as having sex for the first time, as it does releasing your record for the first time, as it does for a 5 year old who realizes that he would rather steal the candybar than work to get it."

My OpinionWe built this house with our hands, and our time, and our blood
You build this up in one day to fall downward and rust
You built this house with your hands, and your time, and your blood
We built this up in one day to fall downward and rust

I would say house would be like your ego, flesh that you live in you build up your ego with your time and blood, and the lyrics are talking about coming to a collapse in your life where you fall downward meaning hit a complete breaking point spiritually and mentally, rust meaning feeling dirty mentally. Where he talks about bruising maybe the person who is coming to the collapse bruised the other persons emotions and he still wants the love that hurt him to trust him and open up, but he doesn't really understand thats hes dancing on her grave 'doing his job crucify fire' the holy or insane makes me think this person is really hitting the bottom eattin up with fear which makes sense because most people have to hit a complete breaking point before they will become born again and free themselves from there past so maybe thats why its called Virgin. Very deep, but it spoke to me as that.

I highly doubt this song has any personal relation to andy himself. If you havent seen any of his interviews he says most of his song writing inspiration comes to him in dreams. And also the fact that his whole side project is a made up story of a sailor.
