My hope is on fire
My dreams are for sale
I dance on a wire
I don't want to fail her

I walk against the stream
Far from what I believe in
I run towards towards the end
Trying not to give in

She's lost in the darkness
Fading away
I'm still around here
Screaming her name
She's haunting my dreamworld
Trying to survive
My heart is frozen
I'm losing my mind

Help me, I'm buried alive
Buried alive

I'm burning the bridges
And there's no return
I'm trying to reach her
I feel that she yearns

I walk against the stream
Far from what I believe in
I run towards towards the end
Trying not to give in

She's lost in the darkness
Fading away
I'm still around here
Screaming her name
She's haunting my dreamworld
Trying to survive
My heart is frozen
I'm losing my mind

Help me, I'm buried alive
Buried alive

I tried to revive what's already drowned
They think I'm a fool
Can't realise,
Hope plays a wicked game with the mind
'Cause I thought that love would bind
I cannot revive what's already drowned
She won't come around

She's lost in the darkness
Fading away
I'm still around here
Screaming her name
She's haunting my dreamworld
Trying to survive
My heart is frozen
I'm losing my mind

Help me, I'm buried alive
Buried alive

    My Interpretation

Personally, I think this song's about a girl who's emotionally dying (meaning the still-alive part of her is singing to the dying part of her). I must sound sort of crazy already, but let me step by step explain how I'm thinking.

My hope is on fire My dreams are for sale I dance on a wire I don't want to fail her

This part means she's losing hope; that she's beginning to think her dreams (for how she wants her future to look like) will go forever unrealized. She's living a life where she's always afraid of doing something 'wrong', and tries her best not to disappoint herself (be it socially, academically or something else).

I walk against the stream Far from what I believe in I run towards towards the end Trying not to give in

She's not fitting in with the people around her, although she's still not managing to be herself. Every single day is a struggle for her.

She's lost in the darkness Fading away I'm still around here Screaming her name

The one she was before all of the pain started is beginning to (figuartively) die. Just like innocence becomes spoiled, she's losing an irreplacable part of herself. The darkness is symbolizing despair.

She's haunting my dreamworld Trying to survive My heart is frozen I'm losing my mind

Her physical self is, to her horror, becoming disconnected from her wilting emotions.

Help me, I'm buried alive Buried alive

Meaning she's trapped and powerless, unable to change her situation.

I'm burning the bridges And there's no return I'm trying to reach her I feel that she yearns

She's still watching herself perish, but no matter how she tries she can't stop the process. The part of her that is dying is not strong enough to survive her everyday life, and there's nothing she can do to change that.

The next few parts have already been explained.

I tried to revive what's already drowned They think I'm a fool Can't realise, Hope plays a wicked game with the mind 'Cause I thought that love would bind I cannot revive what's already drowned She won't come around

She tried being who she can't be anymore, but obviously you can't be who you're not. She is bitter because she had hoped that keeping the love inside of her alive would have been enough to regain her orginal personality, but she realizes that that part of her will be lost forever (hence the name of the song).

And that's my interpretation. The only problem with it that I can see, is the use of the word 'they' in the last paragraph I talked about. I'm not sure who she's referring to... Maybe she means that the people around her expected her to miserable, and was thereby surprised when she tried acting happy (though she did it to revive the dead part of her)?

I'm going to try a different interpretation other than the most obvious one, because i find it more romantic and more fitting with the overall tone and mood of the song. After hearing the song a couple of times i got the strong impression that his girl, his lover, is in a madness state, a medical condition. There is no specific lyric that points in that direction but the sum of them do; "She's lost in the darkness, fading away" > this is actually the part that punctuated my theory, the darkness being her madness, and fading away is the transcendence from reality to her new dimensional plane ( pompous i know but keep with me ). "I walk against the stream" in my mind is him going against his convictions and normal way of doing things,, all for the sake of them reuniting to the time she was sane and they were happy and aware of their feelings (mutual ), which is backed up by "far from what i believe in ". Jumping back to the first verse "My hope is on fire / My dreams are for sale" signify his initial contact with the "disease" and his optimistic start to fight it together, tossing away his dreams for her (which is contradictory a bit, because she / their relationship, are his new and only dream); for me ( and this will be the last time i will say "for me" because it's obviously subjective) this argument is backed up by the way the song starts, on a mellow optimistic voice. "i dance on a wire " < Him being aware of the monumental task he has set before him and the slim chances that it will actually succeed, but pressing forward, again, for their sake " i don't want to fail her". And this is the setup for the story, further on is his madness and weakness in front of failure and crushed hopes. "I'm burning the bridges, and there's no return" - This is the first sign of weakness, of him becoming doubtful that he will actually succeed; He is burning the "turning points" and the moment he acknowledges them as "turning points" he becomes doubtful (this is psychological). "i'm trying to reach her, i feel that she yearns " is pretty self explanatory, the only thing to add is that these two lyrics signify his "goal" his only reason to press forward. The fight between doubt and the need to win her back is his starting spiral of madness. His (and notice that this is becoming more and more about his madness compared to the start where there was still hope for "them" ) manifestation of this madness is expressed through "help me i'm buried alive" "i'm still around here screaming her name(this also has another meaning that i will explain later)" "i'm losing my mind" . Further on through his back and forth madness > "she's hunting my dreamworld" is actually the initial image of her that is haunting him because it's the constant reminder of his failure "i don't want to fail her". "trying to survive" the focus turns back on her, in his mind, being preserved as a pure notion of what has been and will never be again and his struggle to keep her pure. ^ this is the point where his madness goes on another level; his brain trying to preserve his sanity trough fabrication of reality (hope you get what i mean, not sure how i should call it, english is not my first language). In the end is him becoming more aware of what has happened or better said accepting what has happened; "i tried to revive what's already drowned" > signifying his acceptance but also, to get vaguely psychological again, is his giving up on her which after what has happened will have a tremendous impact on his life and way of living on. "They think i'm a fool, Can't realize Hope plays a wicked game with the mind" a mixed feeling of not being able to regret, and this is HIS perspective, that he should actually BE able to regret but is unable because of humans being programmed to live on hope.(this is not true, that's why i stressed it's his interpretation, because i tried to be as objective as possible). "Cause i thought that love would bind" (the way she sings this verse is killing me i just can't get enough of it) and it's basically what he went on/ hoped on, when he first started this journey; it's equivalent to "and they lived happily ever after" which obviously he realized is not true, even though he subconsciously knew that it might not be the case > "i thought", which i explained throughout this interpretation, it signifies his doubt coming clean and turning into pessimism(he will now view it as a general rule, again having an impact on his life). And the story ends at " She won't come around" . The story in the shortest form possible is about a loss in love but the way it played out is truly befitting of a top row, reason i enjoyed it so much. It might not be the way the original artists (i'm just being diplomatic here) wanted to portray it, but i'm gonna stick to this interpretation because as i said i find it romantic and fitting a i said before. Right i'm done, took me an hour to type this whole damn thing, hope you enjoy.

I think that this song is about a relationship. It is about the man in the relationship and his thoughts in regard to the girl that he has lost. It seems like he is trying to hold onto the relationship, even though everyone else is disagrees with him:

"I tried to revive what's already drowned, they think i'm a fool who can't realize. Hope plays a wicked game with the mind 'cause I thought that love would bind. I cannot revive what's already drowned; she won't come around"

I other words, he has hope that he can revive what remains of their love and rebuild upon it, but he is doing it against all the odds. I would say that's what this entire song circulates around.

In the context of the accompanying comic, this seems to be a song about the character Janyce and her hunt for her daughter Rorey.

It may be literal. A girl who has lost a relative, her mother maybe or sister. And she can't accept it, she is denying it. And she does everything she can to fullfil that person't wishes and realizes that it's pointless

I'm not really sure, but I think it's about fighting what you believe in to help someone, even if they don't know/think they need it. The narrator (Sharon) is struggling to fight for this person.

Then again, I haven't studied the lyrics yet, and this is heavily based on personal experiences. :-)

I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
